Gene is one of the most strongest characters I have seen in BL series...the way he faced the coming out situation head on and with clarity…Normally they tend to show one of the male leads in a pair as a pussy who is weak, fragile and gives in to the other male lead…but I am so glad that the scenario is changing and we are getting strong lead protagonists who, even though make mistakes, still stick to their values and live life the way they want. We can’t help but fall in love with characters like Gene, Tian, Dr. Bun, Oh Aew…

The humor in this is definitely for me! I was laughing like an idiot…in the first episode where Pi claims to hate romantic love couples and the next second he falls for love at first sight with Nan…and then the F4 and 2gether references in this one, the narrator making fun of the characters…I feel like a person who has watching Thai BL will definitely get the references… it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I am enjoying it so far!

Nice to see you too :) I have been quite inactive lately so I rarely come on MDL...and just wanted to voice out against these tropes though I have nothing against the show...yeah I have dropped it, I just thought of giving it a try cause I really liked History 3 Trapped and History 2 Crossing the Line...Anyway, because you suggested, I watched Manner of Death...AND I LOVED IT!! It's in my top 3, I am gonna rewatch it again soon along with ATOTS lol! Hopefully I will be able to join you guys this Friday!
Gosh what am I even watching...rape to lovers? What's with all these overused tropes? Like the 0 and 1 referring to top and bottom maybe? And showing that 0 is mocking and insulting? Justifying rape and taking advantage of someone as love? The "I am not gay, I only like him" card? I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Fifty Shades of Grey card in the future episodes...

The sad reality is that the cultural aspect you talked about is still present today, and parents often see their kids as prized possessions to show off, wanting them to go to the most highly reputed universities, and forcing them to study something they don't want...all this for "reputation". Especially in Asia, at least where I am from, it happens all the time and it's really sad... But about the whole situation with Phupha, I see it differently, cause even till his last moment in the village, Tian still felt guilty about Torfun, which is evident in the cliff scene. I think Phupha wanted Tian to let go of the guilt and wanted Tian to come to the village once again on his own terms. I feel Tian still felt guilty, even while he was leaving the village...and when he returns back 2 years later to bury Torfun's diary, I think that is the moment that he finally is able to let go of his guilt... And when Tian was in the village, he was still not sure what his heart desired. Only when he left, he came to realize that his heart was in the village and in teaching, and that's why he decided to study education... Of course, you may not agree with me, which is completely fine, cause there are always more than one perspectives to this...Your opinions are completely valid...just wanted to share how I felt about this...
