Why do you think isn't easy to follow? Meaning from episode 1?
Its actually quite a basic world based off Taoist beliefs of cultivation and eventual ascension. A human will cultivate by 'absorbing' the energies of the universe, generating a golden core first, then upgrading to a nascent soul and then face lightning tribulations and then either succeed and ascend to immortality or become nothing.
So far there is no actual immortals around. ( I am not so sure about the drama version becos Wine Immortal still have not ascended in the novel ) The ones we saw are all cultivators from different sects, so they have their own politics and agenda. Their goal is to ascend to immortality.
The main theme is kind of questioning what does it mean to become immortal, is it worth giving up love and simple pleasures of life, to cut off all these 'worldly desires' just to ascend?
I guess you do need some kind of foundation lol I am glad I was 'trained' in the China animated series " Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" that series introduced me to 'golden core' 'soul remnants' etc lool

I will never be able to keep to this one lol The other issue of waiting until the end is you get too many spoilers and then you miss the spazzing out with other people in 'real time' while the series is airing lol

I had the same complaint TT But 2ml... well in C ent they kind of cast people sometimes according to backers... you don't get a 2nd ml in and only give him limited screen time and changing actors according to the story plot... they should have tried harder though, at least gave him a little fake beard LOOOL
In the novel he is described as looking more like 'Uncle' to SYS since he aged while SYS remained as he did before. I suppose if we had to force it maybe the cultivators he recruited supplied him with some amazing facial products or youth retaining collagen pills

Its his first male lead role so naturally he gets to shine... Really enjoying him bringing SYS to life! He was so memorable as Tushan Jing in Lost You Forever but as third billed his role was reduced by alot.
Am I missing smth or why does everyone look the same 18 years ago?
