I tried CD since I liked LLD but omg it was so horrible and ungrounded I couldn't stand it. People standing in a sea of flames like it was not scorching, huge unexplainable winds blowing indoors due to a big indoor tub drain that acting like a vacuum in space sucking adults in. *eyerolls*
Due to the success of "women as coroner", suddenly many drama fls start dabbling in this. They don't wear masks during autopsy, uses pretty embroidered fabric gloves like it won't be in touch and stained with corpse liquids - a completely stupid gift from the CD's male lead LOL

Its yet another marriage contract drama built on one (flimsy) lie which will snowball out of their control, creating more chaos in both their lives, while real love will bloom as they get busy faking it to everyone else out to catch them. And they have so many sides to cover! lol
So I am saying this at the risk of being hated on by some others, but I don't think this drama is for you sadly. However, if you are ever in the right mood one fine lazy day, you can load up ep1 and see if the leads can change your mind!

Absolutely. Both were making use of each other but forming a very strong dependent bond. In her own way, Feng Yue was trying to save others, but she herself was also kind of broken and did require some 'saving' herself. I liked this vulnerability. YGZ understood what she needed even though in the novel the way he did it was a bit... could it have been better? lol Anyway I like both characters and also hope this drama gets to see the light of day *prays hard*

For the record I am Chinese. So I read the original novel in Chinese - even if I did skim it.
Yin Gezhi -the male lead - did not write the edict to execute the female lead's family, which was what you accused him of doing. He wrote the report to get his father to investigate the entire case. His father betrayed both the general and his own son.
And many other stuff you mentioned are not accurate either. So perhaps its the version of the translated novel you read that misguided your understanding of the story.
As far as male lead characters go, he is hardly the red flag that you claim.
