Rewatching this as well hoping to give the characters a second chance, and man I still don't like many. I mean almost everyone is in the wrong and causing the death of many. I like the series but I just can't sympathize with any character save for few. It's interesting to see the point of view of the major players and not just one side.
I'm back to rewatch this and I still don't like Mu Rong Li. I know it's all for revenge but his actions have set in motion the doom for many. Not counting the not shown many citizens who die coz of war, but he killed or caused the death of those who are not really guilty. He used them as pawns in his chess game. Honestly even moving to season 2, I still think everything that's happened is his fault.
Now for SPOILERS: I have to say this show to me was a tragedy how things unfolded and the time lost for the twins was just heartbreaking. all of that and of course that last bombshell about him was just...For half of the episode I was like him not him, him not him... I found myself crying by the end, chasing each other for a long time for it to be like that. The ethical dilemmas the show puts forward are so real and applicable regardless of the actuality of the science presented. It forces you to think and you have to make not just practical but moral and humane decisions. Also, the question of who are we without our memories? I've always thought that memories makes us who we are, BUT personality traits that attributed to genetics do not change -sure environment plays a role and hence memories- but some are within us and we can't change them. Lastly, I honestly would have done without the romance, I found it weird. I guess her being a new person as HJY is ok :/
For someone who hates sci-fi this was a great show. I usually have a hard time understanding the logic in these kinds of shows but Circle almost had a rational explanation for everything. The acting was awesome, Kim Kang Woo has always been a great actor, but it was my first time seeing Yeo Jin Goo in an adult role and I was pleasantly surprised. Running an hour long, I was so glad it was only 12 episodes (anything more and it was have been a mess). Overall recommended.
I'd say mostly Duration and Ep count are my biggest determining factors. Also being overhyped/ overly-talked-about sometimes leads me to not watch the drama.
