On Island Part 2 Feb 24, 2023
Just like with the first season, the pacing of the first two episodes is terrible. In a series with only 12 eps, I don't understand why they try to cram the best of it in the last few eps of each season. They don't have eps to waste. I've been waiting for this season since the last one ended and literally fell asleep 10 minutes into episode 8. I don't believe the final eps will disappoint, I just wish they'd either made better use of the pacing or given us a longer series. There's so much potential here.

Have you seen him in Rookie Historian?

And the fries were limp and cold and the Coke was weak. If they had released this last summer when it was originally scheduled to air maybe this would have been easier on the palate but they made us wait months for something that simply doesn't satisfy.

also editing was weird with some action scenes cut oddly and sped up so fast you couldnt tell what was going on
Yes, it is a slow start. Yes, the editing is all over the place. It's like a puzzle where you have to bang the pieces into place to make them fit. Nam Gil's character feels a bit too cartoony. I'd like to see what Eun Woo will bring to his role but so far they've used him powerfully little. The story doesn't make much sense. A chaebol's daughter gets into a scandal in Seoul for flipping a man who was harassing both her and her secretary and gets sent to Jeju to work at a school until everything dies down. Meanwhile, in Jeju she's involved in the demolition of some company's van, steals a car and destroys it, her secretary comes up missing or murdered and she's telling law enforcement that the devil and monsters are after her. Naturally, they don't believe her because the whole incident with the attacked and injured airport security guards certainly isn't convincing enough evidence. The whole "I Judo flipped a guy who had it coming to him" thing back in Seoul is beginning to look pretty good right about now as far as scandals go. Plus, let's make sure that if you have monsters after you you do everything humanly possible to ensure that you are in deserted places like forests and roads at night all by your lonesome. I had such high hopes for this drama, with only 4 more eps in this season I hope I'm not let down but I'm beginning to get the distinct feeling that might be the case.

First of all no. A government needs a bill. Second of all, are you rewriting the story? And what a story. I can…
In all sincerity I had hoped we could be too. Now I must call OZ and schedule you for a frontal lobe replacement as I am trying to get a bill passed for kinder and gentler internet forums.

Even though we disagree on the mechanics of the story, I have enjoyed this discussion with you and your ability to civilly present your point of view. Such discussions make forums like this interesting and fun. It has been a pleasure.

If you think that governments need bills or laws to perform secret medical experiments or procedures than you haven't done enough research to speak competently on the subject. If you think governments need bills or laws to eliminate people they see as a threat then you are hopelessly naive. Banning abortions after 6 weeks gestation, banning same sex marriage or attempting to deny parental rights to gay couples who use surrogacy is not the same as requiring that all fetuses with a "psychopath" gene mutation be terminated. The examples you list are social limitations, killing fetuses because they possess a certain gene is state-sponsored murder. It would be impossible to make that argument when the condemned fetus has not committed a crime. Convicted serial killers who have received the death penalty even have the right to an appeals process that can take decades before their execution is carried out. A fetus who has committed no crimes and may never become violent is afforded no such protections under such a bill. Such a law would never stand. If such pregnancies were to be terminated or such children were to be eradicated it would have to be done in secret. If you do not want to it stated that you must feel you are the only one who has the right to comment on this drama in this forum, then I suggest you refrain from telling other posters that you are "imaging" (whatever that means) them complaining when they discuss the plot holes in this story simply because you lack the intellectual ability to do so.

Although a science fiction element was written into this thriller, that should not mean that the screenwriter is free to utilize deus ex machina and plot holes all over the place. It simply ruins what had been a remarkable series for 10 episodes. While there is no psychopath gene, the MAOA-L gene is the closest thing scientists have found that comes close to one.

Dr. Lee, while he was in hiding, had no way of knowing the extent of JBR's brain injury or that Han Seo Jun had performed the surgery using Yo Han's brain while Yo Han was still alive. He knew that Han Seo Jun had transplanted a portion of one mouse's brain into another mouse, but he couldn't have known that they had allowed Han Seo Jun to perform that surgery on JBR. Dr. Lee may very will have been able to conduct the DNA tests himself, but he would have needed equipment and he would have needed supplies. One of the most popular methods (polymerase chain reaction) to test DNA would require a thermal cycler, a DNA probe (usually 4 to 6 probes per test) or there is another method (short tandem repeat) which requires an electric fields and very specific dyes. An advanced microscope is needed, restriction enzymes, a Gel Electrophoresis Machine, computer equipment and analysis software, among other things. Not to mention DNA testing needs to be carried out in a sterile environment to prevent cross-contamination. Now, could Hong Joo have obtained professional second-hand equipment at a price she could afford? Yes, that is within the realm of possibility. Let's say she was even able to afford the supplies. Dr. Lee would still need an adequate and clean laboratory space (certainly not the dump where JBR would visit him to get his next hit assignment).

Dr. Lee was still in hiding in Yo Han's basement when JBR had his surgery and even then, he did not know that he received Yo Han's frontal lobe. I don't even think Hong Joo knew that JBR had received Yo Han's frontal lobe when she found Dr. Lee hiding. She just knew that JBR had had brain surgery and had lost his memory and he thought he was a good person now. So here's the thing. Someone attempts to brutally murder you. They have experimental brain surgery that has never been done before so no one knows what the long term outcome of it will be and you suddenly trust this murderous person enough to meet them secretly in secluded places? You fear OZ but not the actual person who tried to stab you to death? You hide from the police in the sewer (even though you have serious wounds that could easily be infected) when they search Yo Han's house after he was killed, but you'll meet secretly meet face-to-face with the actual person who tried to murder you? That doesn't make any kind of sense. Also, where does Hong Joo get DNA sequencing equipment and supplies from for Dr. Lee to conduct DNA tests on the scumbags he wants JBR to kill? If he used Han Seo Jun's old hidden lab, that equipment is nearly 30 years old and probably in disrepair. DNA sequencing is not something that can be done in a dump if you want accurate results and you would want accurate results if you're going to send a killer after people. It's just far too many holes in this story and that is a shame because the first 10 episodes were compelling, but it's like the screenwriter stopped caring after that point.

So Choi Hong Joo learns Ba Reum is the serial killer after she finds Dr. Daniel Lee and instead of turning Ba Reum in she tells Dr. Lee to Ba Reum to kill scumbags? They thought Yo Han was a scumbag. They will think her child is a scumbag. She--moreso than anyone--should know how it easy for an innocent person to be killed and what mistakes can be made. Dr. Lee agrees to interact with JBR in secret, secluded places when it was JBR who tried to kill him and left him for dead in the first place? Huh? Just because JBR lost his memory after the surgery doesn't mean he won't get it back. Dr. Lee, being a doctor, should know this more than anyone. Also, how does Ko Moo Chi, a trained police officer, miss Jung Ba Reum at point blank range when Hong Joo hit him on the head after the gun is fired? Anyone who has also done target practice with a revolver (as I have) explain it to me like I'm 3 years old. Also, how many times must Ko Moo Chi be hit on the head from behind and be knocked out? He should have damage to his occipital lobe by now.

It is very naive to think a government--even ademocratic one--need bills for highly controversial things that they do. Secondly, I am not asking for secret testing on fetuses and secret euthanization. I am saying that if a government were to do this it would not pass a bill to do so. It would be secret. And you don't have to "imaging" me doing anything. I stated my case openly and succinctly. I am not rewriting the story. I am commenting on the preposterousness of the plot details in an open forum. I suppose, by your comments, that you feel you only have the right to comment on this drama in this forum.

Ko Moo Chi goes to a home and finds not one but three framed photos of the members of Oz and its leader with the words "Land of Oz" nicely printed on them. Really? Is that how they run black ops programs? With framed photos of the members and leader? They couldn't have sprung for a neon sign with a flashing arrow? Ko Moo Chi then finds the laptop Detective Shin was murdered for, the brooch belonging to Bong Yi's grandmother and the locket belonging to his own murdered brother and deduces that the killer must live at the residence. Does he draw his gun? No. He just bursts through closed doors like he's the guest of honor at a surprise birthday party. What was the screenwriter thinking?

The bill-passing excuse for OZ is so contrived. Does anyone really believe a government needs a bill passed to do anything they want to do? If their objective was to pass the bill to abort fetuses with the psychopath gene, they didn't need a bill. They could have just secretly tested all babies upon birth and made sure that the affected babies never made it out of childhood or infanthood. Any such bill to abort fetuses on the chance of them being 99% psychopath or 1% genius would have constantly received pushback from the public, even with the atrocities of serial killers. A secret euthanization program would have been much more effective because governments know well how to keep their constituents in the dark.

This is an opinion forum. Who are you to tell me or anyone what show is or is not for us because our opinion doesn't jibe with your own? That's some audacity you got there. This second half of this drama is not complicated, it's contrived. Come back for an adult conversation when you know the difference between the two,
