You can also check out the director's other short works. Zhi Zhu's highest rated one is An Ancient Love Song (14 eps, 30 mins each ep).
Director Zeng Qing Jie also has quite a few works that were decently popular. His top works are A Familiar Stranger, The Killer is Also Romantic, Provoke, and Butterflied Lover.
So the leads are confirmed? bit disappointed with the FL. ZRN is more the cute and young type. I was hoping for…
That's what happens when a popular IP gets adapted. Book fans have a certain image of the characters, and when an actor gets casted that doesn't fit that image, they will voice their disagreements. It's their right though, of course! So, it's fine if you have reservations about the casting. As the audience, we can only hope this is a good adaptation of the novel and that the actors do well in their respective roles.

It's pretty much locked in since filming is starting soon. I think we should just wait to see how things end up. Hidden Love also got a lot of people against the casting, but I think viewers were okay with them in the end.
From a Weibo post, filming is set to start on the 22nd of this month. The director is Chu Yuning (It Started with a Kiss, In Time with You, etc.). Bai Jingting, Zhang Ruonan, Chen Haosen, and Zhang Miaoyi are the main cast.
I was a bit cautious watching this knowing it was a rom-com with 36 episodes, but this was surprisingly a really fun watch. Rather than binging, I think it was actually more fun to watch 1-2 episodes a day.
The leads were so cute together, the supporting characters provided a lot of comic relief, and the court cases they dealt with were actually really intriguing--I say this as someone who's not a big fan of legal dramas.
What I loved the most from this drama was the character growth the leads had and how they influenced each other for the better. It was lovely to see Qian Heng enjoy the mundane things in life with Cheng Yao and for Cheng Yao to grow as a capable lawyer. I seriously appreciated that the characters kept to their core beliefs and principles but still managed to gain new perspectives and understandings whether it be in their work life or private life.
Overall, this is a solid rom-com. The directing, acting, and casting were all good, and the OSTs have a great replay value.
I loved that Cheng Yao called Yiran out on how she dealt with Wu Jie instead of keeping it in. I really like her character development so far in this drama.
