This should have way lower of a rating. The entire entertainment value of this show is things being bonkers crazy and not making sense and you stick around because you're waiting for the big reveal that will make everything click into place or be meaningful and that doesn't happen 😠everyone just acts insane or idiotic. The main romance is cute enough, but it takes such a massive backseat to everything else going on that it feels underdeveloped, and even more underdeveloped are the MC's relationship with the other second leads, who are acting crazy for him but don't seem to have any reason to. This show's whole hook is rage baiting and stressing you out 😠big disappointment for how much everyone hyped this up. It's all shallow shock value.
You seem to have misinterpreted what he was saying and jumped to your own conclusions. There's no "threat" or…
I say you misinterpreted because you remark on things in your original comment that either aren't a part of the given statement at all, or seem to stem from being uninformed re: strongberry, this production, and this conflict. (If you are informed, I apologize. But it doesn't reflect in your comments.)
The statement is from the CEO of the studio, not the director of the production. The casting call for Blossom Campus WAS an open casting call and both leads are rookies. This will quite literally be the first acting credit for the actor that is being harassed currently. It's very valid for the CEO to have concern that this will affect the willingness of actors to audition for and appear in their productions. Strongberry is an indie queer studio making exclusively queer content. They rely on unknown/rookie actors heavily. The part of the statement you paint as threatening really isn't expressing anything other than anxiety Strongberry and other production companies have about how this behavior could affect their ability to make work long-term—if even a completely unknown actor can become subject to harassment (before his casting was even officially announced) why wouldn't they be concerned other rookie actors might look at that and run? Why wouldn't they be concerned it would further limit their ability to acquire established actors?
"Thus, the Korean BL market is intricately driven by individual desires."
This seems to be the sentence you have the greatest problem with? It's related to his point about actors potentially appearing in BL productions for "popularity" gain, and the differing opinions on if only queer actors should play in queer roles. It's an acknowledgment of the many and various desires and beliefs that fuel and surround the KBL market, and the inability to satisfy them all. It's not an accusation of ill behavior towards the BL fandom at large, or even an accusation at all.
Also while it may be a minority attitude and only one/few individual(s) partaking in harassment in this case. It's not an attitude or behavior that hasn't affected the KBL industry before. Cha Seo Won faced major backlash when he announced his marriage even after his BL finished airing. And there was similar conflict seen on the western side with actor Kit Connor. It was worthy of the CEO addressing it as an existing and continuing problem because it is.
He wasn't an existing person on MDL so his profile had to be submitted for approval as a new person. Approval process can take some time. Once his profile is approved by staff he will appear in the cast list.
There are false/joke "spoilers" currently circulating around on twitter and other platforms. Take what you see with a grain of salt and try to enjoy the series as it naturally unfolds.
