He's crazy but she's crazier
I'm beginning to really appreciate FLs who not only snap back at their enemies but also SLAP back... and this FL does it perfectly. She will face-slap, punch, kick, bite, claw, and scheme her way out of dreadful situations like a champ. Meanwhile the ML will also face-slap, choke, fight, and glare people into his bidding lol. Together they dish out 3x as much as they take, making them a formidable couple (once they actually start working together).
Fair warning though the tone of this drama is... intense. Full of vengeance, darkness, ambition; both leads got hella baggage to deal with and they're at each other's throats for the first half of the show. Even then the atmosphere is dark, ambiguous, sexy at times and abusive at other times.
**THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED
PROS:
❀ Equal rights, equal fights | Yup, this drama features abusive characters across the spectrum. The ML WILL choke the FL. The FL WILL scheme tf out of him in revenge. The FL WILL be beat. She also WILL fight back and bite the instigator. This drama is basically what happens when you let your intrusive thoughts take over LOL. It's satisfying even as you're wincing @ all the abuse going on. I think it equals out though when it comes to the main leads.
❀ When they fall they fall hard | I like how straightforward the FL was once she realizes her feelings. And even though the ML confessed later, his actions since even the first half showed how he cared for her (even though he won't admit it and is still like "I don't trust you" *glares*). OH and I also like how once the leads are together, they're Solid with a capital S. The ML has a heartfelt apology (I know, super rare in cdrama-land) and even drinks contraceptive juice in the end bc he was worried for FL's health, haha! I love to see the craziness continue even when they're in love
❀ Dw about the baggage | FL's fiance turns out to be a schemer and she def does not let him go. ML's white moonlight turns out to be a spy and he def doesn't lose his brain cells around her (which I appreciate). Also can we talk about how she's the most white moonlight to ever white moonlight, bahaha?? Stolen identity, fake death, running away, coming back weak, even her hairstyle is 110% white moonlight.
CONS:
✕ You not gonna like it if you can't stand physical violence | The atmosphere is intense and dark from beginning to end including the choking/hitting/slapping/blah blah so don't even try if you can't stomach a hate-to-love that features dark elements for the first half of the show. Seriously, the FL has to really scheme to get the ML to believe her and also confess (lol). Whatever, we love her for it.
✕ Meh political subplot | Spies left and right. Whatever though it's not like I'm here for the palace intrigue lmfao.
OVERALL
Listen this was a dark hate-to-love romance with sexyyy characters. I'm not gonna excuse the abuse but I do believe it equaled out on both sides which I appreciate. Plus the FL is gorg as she laughs at the schemes she sets up while the ML's curly bangs light up each scene. They start working together pretty early on which I appreciate and slowly open up their jaded hearts.
