Sigh I'm almost done with Episode 4, and boy, her flashback was so depressing. I can't help but feel so freaking distressed for her. She's smart, independent, capable, ambitious, yet kind. I love her sm. I know things are about to only get worse from here onwards, and I'm dreading the whole drama of her getting caught in her lie (which I'm assuming is the reason they'd break up) and the unfair repercussions of her being fired/demoted and everything she worked her ass off for being plucked away. Can anyone please tell me when /which episode the lie ends and she leaves? Do we get proper grovelling from the ML later on, or a second ML at least?? I need a second ML😭 My girl deserves the world, and I can't help but feel that literally everyone is doing/will do her dirty aside from her grandma. Her family, especially her sister, is so frustrating because she's not outright evil or anything (which I like), but is simply so naive and arrogant and ignorant because of how she was raised. I honestly don't get where the family finds the audacity to actually turn around and blame Xu Yan for not calling regularly. The fact that she hasn't gone completely no contact and even messages at holidays is a downright miracle they need to count their blessings for. I just feel so sad that she has no one in this big, cruel world who'd recognise her worth and talent, give her her due credit, and just truly and unconditionally love her. Or even anyone that she can lean on and be herself with😭😭😭God knows, if anyone deserves anything good in this world, it's Xu Yan. I would go to war for Xu Yan, ngl ahh.
PS: I know we're not likely to get it, but I don't care about the ML that much honestlybut I really want/wanted her in-laws to be just genuinely kind and loving folk who'd welcome her with open arms and feircely protect her once they got to know her, y'know so she could experience the familial and parental love of a mother and father she never got to as a child. But neither the FIL nor the MIL seems truly kind, like not even the cold and calculating on the outside and kind and soft on the inside type. They're both just legitemately selfish, cold, and calculating people who only judge people based on their usefulness to themselves and will toss them when they're not anymore, and folk who are not above being downright cruel and gross.
I tried it because of the review by QueSeraSera, and I wasn't disappointed, I loved it sm lmao PEAK COMEDY, EVEN THE NON-COMEDY PARTS WERE SO FUNNY LOL. FL spits FACTS. I found her so refreshing! She's so smart, sharp-tongued, and petty. And "enduring silently" like the typical good FL is not in her vocabulary, lmao. Not even at the hand of the ML. There's this scene where the leads literally slap each other 😭 ?? There's also this part when the ML has kinda fallen for her? She's all like, "Of course I don't like you. No woman will like a man who threatens her all the time. I'm no Masochist."🤣This is verbait LMAO. Very endearing, refreshing FL!!
Sometimes the choreography of some scenes was kinda whack. Like there's a scene where the FL is in the arms of one man and then the ML wants to take her from him, the entire awakardness of them looming over her when she's in between and the way he magically wooshes her from him is so hilarious😭 And in a earlier part the ML puts his jacket on the FL and he does an entire twirl to remove it and put it over her shoulder??🤣🤣😭 There's even one scene, I don't want to give any spoilers, but there's a part where one person looks like they're going to get stabbed, then another person goes in front of them and, then ANOTHER person jumps in front, and the sword is heading towadrs the entire time without changing course and ends up stabbing the last person?😭🤣🤣 Comedy gold, I tell you. There is also an "intimate scene" where I get that they wanted them to look passionate and tender, but they looked like they were just sleepy and pecking at each other, 😭🤣🤣, but it does have some sweet kissing ❤️. Oh, also, if there's any blood in any scene, it somehow splashes onto the lead's face??😭 Overall, like I said, HILLARIOUS. And credit where credit is due, the cast, the acting, the chemistry, was really nice! The plot is okay, and I really liked how the leads, especially the FL, were written!
I've tried getting into short dramas in the past, but I couldn't bring myself to care for the shallow one-dimensional characterization of the leads that usually happens, and the extreme brutality/violence and abundance of SA and absolute lack of logic in them. Keeping that in mind, even though a lot was lacking, as a mini drama, this was GREAT! so much fun! I honestly wish they had tried remaking it as a full-length drama with the same leads. It has so much potential! I binged it in one setting. I'd recommend you give it a shot if you're looking for something light and entertaining!
I watched it a while ago, I remember liking it well enough until the very end?? I was like tfff? Why did she who worked so hard all her life against all odds, need to give up her ultimate dream? And I think she gives up the opportunity to her lame shitty male colleague who was somehow redeemed in the last 2 eps bleh. It just makes no sense. Hey, while I'm sure you didn't intend to mean it that way, that language and terms like "Pure" being "way past pure" is very problematic. It suggests some sort of goodness that's lost. Implying someone who's had sex consensual or not is "impure" or "spoiled or "less worthy" which is just untrue. You might say, "she had experienced so much worse that I thought" The former kind of language and the attitude it breeds treats people as objects that lose value and attaches shame and moral weight where it doesn't belong. In case of SA, it blames and stigmatizes the victim on top of the truama, which is so cruel and sickening. A person, a woman is NOT their sexual encounter/history or lack thereof, and their value as a human being is NOT tied to that in any remotest way. A person is "pure" as long as they want to be. I know Cdramas tend to use this kind of langauge and attitude heavily but that's a whole another conversation. I know there are a lot of young folk here, so Just a PSA. This is fiction, that needs to be analysed critically. Please don't let it impact you too much.

ep 21 OMG love how the FL shuts the 2ndML down (Chu Zhao) down when he's like "omg, you're not like other women, you're so strong, other women just want to find a good match and get married" BISH FIRTS OF ALL, BOLD OF YOU TO SAY THAT WHILE YOUR FEMALE BODY GUARD WHO'S SUPER STRONG AND KICKASS, WITH MARTIAL ARTS STRONG ENOUGH TO RIVAL THE ML'S( A MILITARY GENRAL )RIGHT HAND MAN, HAS SAVED YOUR ASS MULTIPLE TIMES & HAS SWORN UNDYING LOYALITY TO YOU AND IS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO YOU lMAO. BOLD. Secondly, I'm fully agreeing with FL like IF THEY COULD, THEY WOULD. I get that they wanted to show that the FL is earnest, sincere and passionate about it since her best frend herself was a victim but you aren't a rookie, you've literally been a section chief and now the director, why would you say something like you'll quit, if you cant find the culprit/victim from this old complex and cold case?? wb your best friend? how will you get justice and face her mom if you quit? and what about the trafficked baby you've been investigating and his family? what will you tell them if if you quit? what about the many other future victims. Sigh however feel good it'd be if she actually finds a lead and the victim/cuprit, the reality is that 100s of 1000s such cases are reported every year, many grow cold, police are often ill equipped and under staffed. Sometimes you really are helpless and showing how the FL and her team come to term with that and drive for change would be as or more powerful than if she makes a statement like that and follows through.
