I agree. A lot of people keep comparing them because of LJG without appreciating this drama as its own entity.
TRUEE. FoE is always stressful for me whenever I watch it. I still think the cast did a great job in this drama. And I like that there is a clear goal in sight in terms of who is on whose side, unlike other kdramas like this
I know right not every Kdrama needs romance to be good I sometimes see people saying they won't watch a drama…
I agree!! I find it weird when I see comments like that. I also think that because KDramas try to balance romance with another genre a lot of the time that it doesn't always turn out great. I'd like to see a show where the genre is different but the main character is already in a stable relationship. The best example I can think of is Flower of Evil.
I do think Japanese dramas have mastered the romance genre as a separate entity and don't rely on romance in other genres such as thrillers though
they're working pretty fast. There are so many dramas people have been waiting ages for - Taxi Driver 2, Alice in Borderland 2, Sweet Home 2, etc but there's either not been much development for them or they've been delayed. I guess they're trying to profit off of it as much as possible. But I don't know how it will work given the end of season 1. It took a long time for the first season to be written so I hope this won't be rushed just because the first season was so successful
I'm not so interested because season 1 copied too much some others shows. It rely on shock value, while emotions…
YES!! and the japanese film 'As the Gods Will' (the first game was the exact same). And even a bit of Alice in Borderland in my opinion. It does seem like a mixture of a lot of different japanese media but with a much much higher budget
The kiss scenes from Aoi Tori were actually hilarious to watch because he was straight up trying suck her face off 😂 there was so much sexual tension omg
I just finished rewatching a drama last week, It was FLOWER OF EVIL. It was my fourth watch of the show. If you've watched it, you'll know that certain episodes fill you with a lot of dread and anxiousness, and no matter how many time I rewatch it, I always experience those feelings again. It's my favourite kdrama and it has been since 2020. <3 But I frequently rewatch japanese dramas a lot. Sometimes, I'll just watch a few episodes at random because most of my favourite ones always spark joy and keep me going when I have a tough time. It's especially nice since most are only 10 episodes and are 20-40 minute long episodes. Most of my comfort dramas are japanese :)
