It's not that they didn't write and film a cohesive ending. They likely ran out of airing time. The airing time for dramas is regulated by the government. Each drama has to bud for a time slot and you take what you get I suppose. You can tell in the last two episodes the director started cutting and fixing because they were running out of time and had a lot more story. Too bad.
Just one thing, not about the drama... I was looking for further recs and saw that the recs list is padded with irrelevant and unreleased dramas. Forgive me - as a member since 2015 (and a lurker for years before that), I've not visited MDL for a while until May this year, but aren't you supposed to recommend shows you have watched already and verified that they have something in common with the drama on whose page you are recommending? Almost every single one of the recommended dramas on A Splendid Match's page are irrelevant, making it impossible to find actual recommendations. Whoever is doing it, please stop.
I'm about 20 min into ep 36 and XQ wasn't going to say anything but YY's mentor torture that guy that was always…
No excuse! He should have died right there with dignity. Instead, he caused unnecessary trouble and ruined ML and FL's reputations with no actual follow-up on that, before dying. I guess they wanted to show again that he always chooses himself over the welfare of people around him.
Poor IU, people saying she can't act should go watch her other dramas. This script makes HuiJu a 2 dimensional character and IU is playing it perfectly, that's where all the criticism is coming from. IT'S THE LACKLUSTER SCRIPT! Even BWS's character pales in contrast to the PM and the Queen Mother. Those villain characters get a range of emotions in the script, allowing the characters and the actors to shine. The Main Leads however are literally 2D characters with about 5 emotions between them. Poor IU and BWS, I bet they thought the script was better.
But at least they'd all still get their money's worth I guess, because we're watching for the stellar actors at this point, and we're so close to the end so why stop now. But I'd not touch another Disney+ kdrama ever again, no matter who is acting in it.
By the way, if you want entertainment and fun, try My Royal Nemesis.
I'm really hesitant to start this because the ML is a CEO (🙄🙄🙄) is he like really "ruthless"…
I wouldn't call him a CEO (though he is). He's more like a thug running a company, a smart mouthed guy, and a hands on employee. The only thing saying he's a CEO is his one desk in a big empty office.
Good and entertaining drama.storytelling so far is good and the actors are lovely to look at and have good chemistry. I hated the villain the moment he appeared on-screen. Didn't even take me 2 seconds. This goes to show the actors, mains and support, are really good.
Watching both Perfect Crown and My Royal Nemesis while they air. My Royal Nemesis so far (ep2) has a nice story, the plot works well, it is unfolding just like many of the great rebirth novels I've read. The leads are fire together. The FL is an awesome character and I just want the ML to hug and protect her (while's she screaming at everyone else haha). The actors are awesome. I like looking at them.
Perfect Crown, though boasting a star studded, excellently skilled cast, leaves much to be desired. The plot holes are gigantic. My Royal Nemesis is entertaining, funny and cohesive and is making up for the brain-dead, but good looking Perfect Crown.
When you have nothing to say, claim that there is a lack of chemistry or indeed too much chemistry between the…
I wish the leads had more screen time together. Their feelings radiate with warmth and respect when they are together. I love love love😍 when they hold hands and support each other.
Love IU and love Byeon Woo Seok but this plot is not plotting. The screenwriters or Disney+ is trying to make…
Plot: I-An is supposed to be strong and in control. Yet they keep showing him as weak, as being pushed around by everyone. When things got bad, he goes on the Prime Minister's turf and lets villain PM push him around, even listing to the PM's 'advice' when he knows it's not good for him or his wife and his marriage. ----> this is not I-An's fault. The drama writers are just reaching for a story and this weakened character is all they could come up with.
Plot: The divorce. Prince I-An is like "You didn't trust me" and he's all hurt. Yes dude, she didn't trust you because you've been sitting on a secret for 3 years, not taking any power or responsibility for yourself, being all weak and woeful. You have shown her you can't save yourself so she steps in and does it for you. If she had never mentioned divorce, he never would have been angry and sad enough to tell the little king that it was time to give his throne back.
Plot: The Queen Mother. Whoever wrote her character didn't do their proper research. In the beginning episodes she acted like his dowager stepmother rather than his sister-in-law. Whoever wrote her needs to go research more Chinese palace dramas.
Plot: They've got no plot so they give too much screen time into spelling out the PM's actions regarding the marriage contract (like we didn't already know and it could have been shown in 10 seconds tops). And too much screen time to the aides' unnecessary 'romance'. And too much screen time in revealing the 'villains' like they've not been showing us clearly who the villains were and what they did during the whole show.
As a writer, this weak and dumbed down blot is infuriating, but IU and Byeon Woo Seok, as well as the supporting cast are acting so well and are looking so beautiful. I stay for them. The plot sucks.
Love IU and love Byeon Woo Seok but this plot is not plotting. The screenwriters or Disney+ is trying to make this as stupid and watered down as possible. Do they think seasoned Asian drama watchers can't follow a complex story, they make it as simple and watered down and illogical as an American show? I bet they'd also end the series in a kind of cliffhanger reminiscent of an American serial drama. :roll eyes:
She's so beautiful! I saw her in Perfect Marriage Revenge, but she's so pretty and her fashion is on point. I couldn't dislike her character. I liked when the actress came on the screen.
I like the child and the child's relationship with his Dad. I dislike the FL (she's uncommunicative, stubborn and annoying, and in real life, she'd prob get a divorce pretty quickly. She's not a person who tries to understand the other person). I dislike the Dr. He may only be 'annoying' but I can't stand him. Since I can't accept the characters, I can't bring myself to waste more time on this show. Such a pity. I could have loved it. I love shows with loving parents taking care of little kids, and the kid in this show is cute and endearing.
But at least they'd all still get their money's worth I guess, because we're watching for the stellar actors at this point, and we're so close to the end so why stop now. But I'd not touch another Disney+ kdrama ever again, no matter who is acting in it.
