Just from Haolan alone I can see that he has acting chops, and he's handsome, why is he not more famous??? I hope he gets bigger and better roles in the future because he deserves it!
OF COURSE Guardian's on the list, ahaha. The amount of ranting I've seen people do on the ending xD Thought Goodbye My Princess would be on this list too, it's the first drama I think about when I see SE. Honestly though this is more like a list of dramas I have to watch, because I love my angst and suffering :D the sadder the better! (P.S. Please, Zhu Yilong, stop taking dramas with sad endings ISTG, you barely have any dramas where you end up happily with your love and actually staying alive until the end ;_; I know Chinese directors also think you look even more stunning when you're in pain but at the same time I just want to see a character of yours with a happy ending besides Minglan, lmao)
I know the drama was taken off Youku once and reuploaded with some scenes cut. Does anyone know if the versions on YouTube are the original uncut ones or the edited ones? I would like the full experience~
Amazing movie. For me, quite a number of live-adaptation BL movies (won't say which ones) don't really have the chemistry between the leads that's present in the manga - but not this (and Pornographer). I can definitely see the chemistry between Kijima and Kido in here, and it's made all the better for it.
The ending scene with Kido... Like some commenters here, I can't decide which interpretation to go with either.
Overall, definitely one of the best adaptations I've seen so far.
Great article, very thourough!I've read about the historical accuracy of SOYP, the Qianlong Emperor, Empress Xiaoxianchun…
Imperial Noble Consort Ling was never promoted to empress because she was from a booi aha ('bondservant') family, and the highest position she could reach (while she was alive) was Imperial Noble Consort. (I remember reading about it once, but I can't find the source now - I'll add it as a reply when I find it.)
This was an emotional ride.Excellent acting from everyone, but please do not yell me they separated, I saw the…
CFT is leaving for Hong Kong with his family, because HK then was under British control and Japan would not easily choose to invade HK to avoid having to fight British powers.
The author only wrote this one novel, so a sequel adaptation may not be possible; that said, if they wanted to make an original sequel with the author's permission, it's not impossible. Though for me, their story is already complete and doesn't need a sequel.
I feel like I understand and not understand the ending at the same time... Gotta stew on it for a few days. And maybe read the novel for dem smexy scenes? XD
I've only started watching today, but I already really like it. I've seen mentions about cut scenes to comply with China's laws, I wonder if those scenes will ever be released in DVD... 10/10 would buy
Such a disappointment, for once in a while we get a woman on a revenge mission, instead of a man, and both plot…
"the entire town abused that little girl and no one didn't (sic) anything"
You'll be surprised this does exist in real life. If you want an example, Google Junko Furuta - fair warning though, her experience is extremely NSFL (not safe for life), I'm still traumatised by some of the things I read about today.
I heard this movie is based on a real story, is there any specific case it's referring to, or is it a commentary on the rape culture that exists today?
