It is dubbed 😔. I think te voice actor dubbing the untamed wei wuxian is also dubbing one of the characters
No problem! Republican era dramas are basically first half of 20th century, after the fall of Qing Dynasty and includes WWII. Because of tumultuous times and of course the war, most Republican dramas are generally somewhat tragic.
The lead actor for golden hairpin, Kris Wu, is currently being investigated for various crimes and all his endorsements, including with Tencent, have been taken down. All his images on golden hairpin's weibo have been taken down too. Unless the production team is willing to spend more money either swapping out the lead's face with AI or hiring a new actor and reshoot his scenes, this drama will probably never air :(

There's this video on bilibili where you can hear Tan Jianci calling out for Chang Geng and everyone's praying he can dub Guyun himself because of that http://b23.tv/em8n76
It seems like a lot of people in the comments don't tune into their own country's shows! I wasn't expecting the…
Can't say for others but Singapore dramas haven't been much good these 10 years or so... Most of them were pretty meh and a few were basically govt advertisement 😑 I miss the old days of late 90s-2000s dramas...
Not an article I was expecting! I did notice some interest from China regarding this drama earlier, which was unexpected. I also haven't watched a local drama in years apart from Last Madame last year...
aghh thank you so much for all your work and your info!!!! it makes me weirdly happy how much effort they have…
Yeah, and actually I think it's better for WIK to air earlier than Immortality, just in case Immortality's popularity buries it even months after it finished airing. I definitely will watch Immortality when it's out (Luo Yunxi is just so freaking gorgeous ugh <3) but SPL has my heart too. And for sure, I bet Immortality's budget is really high, though I don't have any numbers right now. I saw LON's trailer and it looks great actually! I'll definitely tune in to it.
I'm going to scold MGTV everyday if they dare to lock this up in their vault for 3 years like what they did to…
Definitely a good idea, in MGTV I do not trust. Let's hope the rumors that they're selling production rights to the other broadcasting companies are true, this drama deserves a better chance.

After the Kris Wu scandal and all the rumors that The Golden Hairpin's timeslot would be given to a BL drama, I was actually leaning towards Immortality at first. THP being an S+ drama likely had a golden timeslot, and it would make sense for Tencent to give that slot to its only BL S+ drama, Immortality. Moreover, the summer season is usually regarded as a good time to air dramas because it's the school holidays in China.
However, now I'm actually leaning more towards WiK being released first. This year, being Olympics, might mean lower viewership for dramas. Releasing it now would also mean a relatively short amount of time for Tencent to promote the drama before October 1 arrives, China's national day and which means that they basically can't promote the drama for some weeks after Oct 1. Tencent wouldn't want to sacrifice its golden goose Immortality by releasing it now. Rumors abound in the Cnetz sphere that Tencent is considering releasing WiK now and see how it does; if it manages to be popular despite Olympics then it'd be great, if not at least they didn't sacrifice Immortality. (I have to stress that these are RUMORS and nothing is confirmed until it's released.)
(I say all this, but inb4 A League of Nobleman releases instead LOL)
