Oh, this was so much better than I expected! I thought I would end up skipping Oh's storyline but I really got to like him a lot, especially when he meets Pong, Jack & Jued. His character change is so subtle but powerful. Even I got a huge man-crush for P'Pong XD I like that they gave all characters a lot of room to develope outside the 'romance'-plot. There was really nice friendship and family background which was well told.

Just when that first bar scene knocked my socks off, they went and called him 'the gay conquerer' -- excuse me? Have some dignity. That's terrible XD

I know!!! But when you see him do this phantom of the opera thing you can't help but think of the dignity and subtle shyness portrayed by Nicky Wu and face palm at the contrast...

I can only tell you about my own experience: I love the c version. And was heartily disappointed by the K-drama. Not because it's bad or anything (it has great cinematography and is well executed). But if you want to watch it because you want to 're-experience' how great the c drama was- then you will probably not enjoy it. But if you look at it as a completely different drama then you might like it.

agreed. I grinds my gears that people want to censor noncon, as if that makes it non existent. I doubt those of us who enjoy it want to be subject to domestic abuse- we just enjoy good powerplay. Too many ppl cannot look beyond the problematic character to see how well they both execute the emotions. I melt every time, I see Tharn react to Type's rare bouts of gentleness. You can lit see he craves the dominance. It's quite compelling and a pleasure to watch. No, Type is not nice (despite the description on VIKI -lol) on the other hand Tharn is quite happy to manipulate his way to what he wants. His possessiveness pleases Type no end. They are well matched that way.

I think that really depends on your preferences. There is no right order. Apart from the skeleton plot they are actually quite differently executed. If you start with the original/older C version it may set the bar very high for Scarlet Heart. If you start with the Korean version, you may not enjoy the slower paced/less flashy style of the C drama. Personally, I think the Chinese version is one of the most flawless/well rounded historical dramas so I definitely have a favourite ;)

I live in fear of the live comments... i can never decide if I want them to agree with me or not... XD But I agree that fanservice should be something to reserved for later episoded. It is so much more effective ;)

recently I noticed that the earlier in the drama the shirt-less scene occurs, that is directly correlated with how good the story is. Abs before ep 3 foreshadow a weak plot. I think it must be because the writers have no faith to keep us hooked based on the story alone.

The question that bugs me the most about ep 12: How is Yi-Joon only the runner up? Who is going to believe there is a smarter kid in Gongjin?

oh~ I like your perspective. It took me a while to look beyond the superficiality of hye jin's actions and at first I was disappointed bc I thought it was a bit unworthy of what the series could be. really, I was just about to compliment how maturely she handled Ji PD and then she blew it with the slapstick and tropes. But the way you describe it, fits with her character and I can accept it better.

This has the most unnatural conversation speed. Not just between the main couple. It's as if everybody was instructed to count to three in their heads before saying their lines. Even for things like 'could you please pass the butter' they drag out the pause.

I have high hopes for Vegas & Pete and it looks like they are going to deliver some really good powerplay. Going by the comments they seem to be pushing all the right buttons. Maybe giving us all those teasers is GMM One's idea of powerplay with fans...
