stylish gal, don't be surprised I'm here xD that comment of yours is basically the reason why you're the first…
Hello, @kaisrexci, my friend! :) It's so nice to read your comment, it's been a long time, too. ♥ I am stuck in the middle of nowhere with poor signal that's why I'm rarely online. I'm glad to have someone in common with same interest in Taiwanese dramas.
Hi, Tine, it's been a long time, you have made yet another outstanding piece! And also to our beloved volunteer MDL users in this article, I really appreciate all your efforts, thank you to you all! Finally, my much-awaited article from this series is now out, which is all about (my favorite) Taiwanese dramas ♥ As a self-confessed Taiwanese entertainment avid fan, I decided not to participate in this article collaboration because I feel like I haven't watched enough many Taiwanese dramas, so I feel that there will be much deserving MDL users who have watched the top rated ones and may share them to our readers, and I was right after all. Taiwanese dramas were my first love since when I was at age 6, starting with "Meteor Garden", which has massive popularity during the time when it was aired. I've been obsessed ever since and until now. I never have any dull moments while watching Taiwanese dramas, I always enjoy watching them! I like how they display every drama realistically. I find the characters just like the people we see in real life but way cooler, I can always feel the characters' emotions, I can totally relate myself to them, I am easily get swayed in the story, and they never fail to grab my attention and heart with such good-looking actors, well-dressed outfits and beautiful locations. I also like when there are funny scenes, they're so good at making me easily laugh. I am sometimes saddened by the bad reviews of others in terms of acting, but I do not mind them, because I saw myself how talented their acting is compared to other Asian counterparts. I can see the sincerity they give to play the character and make them look like relatable in real life. Nevertheless, I still respect everyone's opinions since each of us have different tastes. Another thing I want to point out as well also is how only few titles are subbed in English. There are tons of drama titles, especially older ones, that must have English subtitles on them. Sadly, some of those titles before that had subtitles were slowly being removed online. Someday, I might be planning to pay Mandarin translators in putting English subtitles to those remaining dramas, but it's a dream for now that I wish would come true. For the first timers out there in watching Taiwanese dramas, you guys will surely have fun and they will give you good vibes. Taiwanese dramas will make you think of life positively, treasure each moment and treat ourselves better.
I was able to watch the 1st episode in cable TV. It was aired on HBO, 9pm last night 8/16/2020. Weber Yang stars as a detective. He was investigating an incident, then he thought of using a machine that was invented by Jason Wang that can enter into people's dreams and can be a tool to help solve the mystery of the case. David Wang might be one of the perpetrators involved in the incident. What was the purpose of inventing the machine? Will the good win against evil? This drama brings mystery, supernatural and sci-fi elements combined, making it a one-of-a-kind show experience.
Kind of reminds me of “Inception” 2010. Sounds super cool but why only 8 episodes?
I'm not sure why. As far as I know, HBO also produced same dramas before with only few episodes, most notably "Teenage Psychic" with only 6 episodes and "The World Between Us" with 10 episodes.
Fun and interesting article! I only watched 'Angel N'Devil' so far, it was so good. Reading this article gave me information I didn't knew about the whole concept. For me, it doesn't need to be in order to watch each series, they have their own story.
Wonderful! Thank you, @Tine and fellow MDL members, for doing this awesome article about Chinese dramas! ♡
Same with Japan, Chinese dramas also have a lot of variety to offer, but they also have differences. China tends to produce many contents, but sadly, some are not popular that only few have subtitles and some titles were not known internationally that Chinese drama fans will never discover (thankfully, we now have MDL for Chinese drama/movie contributors!); unlike with Japanese dramas/movies, they have more global fans and more actively being subbed. Also with terms of censorship and liberation between the 2 countries are very different. And lastly would be that in Chinese dramas/movies, expect dubbed voices.
I saw the development of Chinese dramas/movies from the past years up to where it is now. Before, in the past, they produce works on more about ancient history, martial arts and past cultural traditions. As years go by, they adapted the modern elements, but in their own way. Just like me, enjoy Chinese entertainment!
Another amazing article masterpiece! Thank you, @Tine and to the volunteer members! ♥
I love the whole Japanese entertainment. Ever since as a kid watching classic Japanese cartoons and animes, until now that I am watching their dramas and movies, and also listening to their music.
As to their dramas and movies, they have a wide variety to offer! Also, I observe that they have this usual expression of saying 'Eh?' When they make an anime or manga into a live action, it appears like the anime/manga characters came to life, seriously.
If Japan is known for their advances in high technology around the world and top quality works, for sure, once you start getting to know Japan through their entertainment, it will bring you to a totally new different world!
Very nice article series, @Tine and as well as the responses from the featured members!
I haven't watched any Thai dramas yet, just one Thai movie, so this reading piece is an eye-opener to us non-viewers about the opinions of Thai drama viewers and the helpful insights they shared.
I agree that Thai dramas are popular for BLs and lakorns, and also they're known for some hit horror movies. I liked how they produce quality content through their creativity as shown in their stories, showcasing their own cultural tradition, and portraying the simple Thai life. Even if I have not yet watched a single Thai drama, I already liked them, so will look forward to start with one in the right time.
My 2nd Hyun Bin drama (after Crash Landing On You). I decided to watch Secret Garden out of curiosity, and also because of him & Ha Ji Won (saw a quick glimpse of her in an old drama Memories Of Bali). I watched this in a local Philippine TV station, so it was dubbed in Filipino (way too many scene cuts and TV ads, but that's okay). You will like this if you want fully loaded romantic scenes, and some funny moments. Also has a star-studded cast, good OST, and unexpected surprises!
