A drama to put on the HATE list for being unrealistic and claiming "love will cure mental health" and even trying…
I liked some of the patients stories and the brother but I have to admit that the main lead story was inconsistent at times regarding her diagnosis/symptoms and behavior. You‘d think that in such a setting the plot would involve her doing therapy… 🥲
Thanks for this excellent article! Also I can't believe it's missing the great dramaMad For Each Otherhttps://kisskh.at/79527-the-crazy-guy-in-the-districtA…
That drama would fit this list as well! Also it was very entertaining ~ I was making fan subs of the bts at the time and people really seemed to resonate with the mental health & treatment aspect :)
A drama about the making of webdramas ^^ The screenwriter was certainly going thru some inferior complex given some of the self deprecating lines against web drama writers 😆
I consider that Chocolate can enter this type of kdramas since it is a healing program, seeing hospice patients…
Most definitely. :) It’s strangely contradicting and yet somewhat philosophical how a place where no physical healing takes place, the most mental healing is found.
Thank you for this beautiful and beautifully written article. For me, much of the healing I find in Dramaland…
Thank you for your positive feedback:) And I absolutely agree, while I decided to only highlight dramas that do feature some sort of licensed therapist, there are probably more 'healing' dramas out there that don’t and it’s perfectly fine :) I‘m looking forward to reading what kind of drama you benefited from the most ;)
Sadly, Soul Mechanic has good ideas turned into really unnecessary romances... That was my big dissapointment.
I agree on that aspect. Romance and K-Dramas usually go hand in hand but in this case it would have been better if it didn’t have romance - or at least not between psychiatrist and patient.
I was impressed by this article. Thank you for writing about this important subject. I cooperate with people with…
Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏼 ~ I hope we get to see even more emphasis on mental health and the treatment of mental problems in future dramas :) I wonder, since you have experience working with mental patients, do you think the misrepresentation of mental illness in dramas has declined / improved? Once in a while I see a drama where I have to close all eyes and ears when I hear a so-called therapist say something unfitting.
Very glad to see Soul Mechanic called out in your article - my wife has somewhat less extreme but very recognisable…
Oh, I actually remember reading your review on the drama a while back :) Doesn’t it kind of feel like it’s all gonna be okay, when you can relate to something so sensitive and unique as mental health in a drama? I‘m impressed whenever a character has the same job as me, let alone face a similar mental health struggle.
In 2021 he stepped out shortly after PS and there are many reports&pictures on it. It looked botched but apparently he got it somewhat fixed afterwards. In his case you can clearly see a difference in nose, chin and overall skin tightness. You can google it to see the images :)
That would be another example of inpatient psychiatric care 👍🏼I ultimately decided to go with Soul Mechanic…
Interesting to know! I noticed that dramas tend to refrain from actually stating the exact form of therapy they want to portray. Maybe it's a way to avoid misrepresenting it or attaching a name to it.
I think "It's okay not to be okay" could be on that list
That would be another example of inpatient psychiatric care 👍🏼 I ultimately decided to go with Soul Mechanic since I found it to be less dramatizing. But IONTBO surely belongs to this genre of dramas :)
Love this list... I don't know if it comes under therapy drama or not but "My Liberation Notes" has a very calm…
For the sake of the article's length I only focused on dramas that featured some sort of therapist but in MLN they used journaling, which is known to be therapeutic as well. I too keep many quotes of that drama near and dear to my heart. Have you considered making your own liberation notebook? :)
I think the "variety" show House on Wheels (all four seasons but I especially liked the guests in the first and…
Haven’t heard of that variety show as of yet but it sure sounds calming. I decided to only include dramas that portray actual therapy in the article ~ however "Meet Yourself" feels very healing. Also the scenery is so beautiful :0

'A Piece of Your Mind' was a really beautiful, slow watch :)

Mad For Each Other was a lot of fun to watch. ~ enemies to lovers + healing? Yes please :D
Love that a more taboo subject was front and center without it being portrayed as something ridiculous.

After seeing Lee Min Ki in My Liberation Notes, I have high hopes for his performances:)
