Watch the last scene when he puts the book back on the shelf. Youβll see the real reason why he chose what he…
Interesting takes. I feel kind of the opposite, I don't think he factored Shirasaki into it at all other than he seemed like he didn't want to let Shirasaki down in their rivalry. I felt like he was worried Shirasaki might think he dropped out to give him the role.
I think he gave it up to do the movie because of what he said at the end of episode 5, he did what was expected of him.
I think there would be a lot more tension and hurt feelings if Hayama gave up the role for Shirasaki because Hayama was already struggling to understand what Shirasaki wanted in epsiode 4 when he said "I don't want to lose to you, Asami-san".
Hayama understood after talking it out at the bar that Shirasaki didn't want to crush him, but wanted to stand by him and be an equal to him in the industry. I just can't see Hayama giving up his role for Shirasaki at all. I was worried he would factor that in and it would cause a huge problem between them, because Shirasaki would not have liked getting the role because of that.
I really felt Hayama was trying to be okay with his decision to give up a project he really wanted, and maybe the end scene when he put the book up and seeing pictures of them together, gave him more strength to accept it.
I still hope he can find a way to be okay with choosing projects he wants to do because he wants to do them. Find strength in himself and support from Shirasaki.
Unless they do a hard left turn somewhere in the upcoming episodes, that's how I took all of that to mean.

I did watch it. I thought he was just trying to let the part go. What did I miss? But please don't tell me if they are going to reveal it at some point. I don't like spoilers.
Wow! I'm loving this. β€οΈ I can't wait to see if Hayama does less of what other's expect him to do and more of what he wants to do. It's not selfish, its strength. Him taking on projects he wants to do will shine more because he is passionate about those type of projects. Hayama and Shirasaki complement each other so well.
πHappy Halloweenπ
