It does feel like he’s in a relationship game and never told her the rules. He should have asked the basic like “are you in love with me ?” He could have saved a lot of money, time and embarrassment. He’s a little obsessive about her. I thinks it’s a shame he tried to use public opinion to pressure in the relationship knowing she’s a bit timid. But, XQ held her ground. That shows she has gained some independent thinking.

The fireworks company would be bankrupt already if the cheating husband had an average wife! Gu Jia made the connections for him to get the theme park job and he thanked her by putting the tramp’s name in lights! Now, he’s looking down on her and going against her decisions to please the below average tramp! I would have a hair’s width of respect for him if he cheated with a woman of caliber on par with Gu Jia. He picked a basic gold digger. The girl can’t afford the bus fare to visit him in prison when the fireworks company blows up. I am so over those two idiots. But, I think Gu Jia will forgive him for the sake of their son. I think he will cheat again. I’m sorry the drama isn’t long enough to see him live with regret.

I assume it shows one doesn’t need to be rich to have a happy life and family. They struggle to make a living and they laugh together at the end of the day in that tiny room while the rich people have a lot of drama and many unhappy days. The message may be wealth is not a guarantee of happiness. Even a poor family working together can have a happy life. One needs to have the proper priorities and focus on the important things.

The cheater is one fireworks accident away from being imprisoned. He already forgot his best friend’s family is destroyed by the same thing. He should be working hard to help get the tea factory successful and get out of working with dangerous gunpowder instead of wasting time with the barely employable theme park girl who would be living in a cardboard box if he wasn’t paying for her hotel room. The idiot already put the hotel room on his credit card when he checked her in! Gu Jia will find the credit card statement. She already smelled the scent of hotel/cheap girl on him. Plus, he’s using too much cash. He’s really too dumb to cheat! Haha!

I have to agree it was a matter of time before he cheated. It may have happened before . I forgot that he was fascinated by the expensive tangerines/oranges the office girl bought him in the first episode! Now, the son noticed he put UU in the fireworks display, the father noticed he changed his visitation patterns and the driver clearly told him an example of what happens when men cheat after seeing him acting sneaky with his texts messages. Gu Jia and her son deserves better. His employees would hate him if Gu Jia divorces him. She does a lot for them.

So, Se Ra is a kissing drunk like her mother! Her parents and the couple are so funny together with mom dressing up to formally greet the new son-in-law! They even gave him her room, clothes and left her on the floor drunk! Hilarious! Compare that to the life she would have if they had to live with his father. It would be like living in the house in Heard It Through the Grapevine... too many rules!

Xiao Xin is past the age where she can play all night and bounce back the next morning like a college student! The young boy is smothering her. Not the life she expected. She would be happier living alone for her minute without a boyfriend connection.

Ma Ni needs to go back to Shanghai to date the barista. He’s a known entity and cares for her. Dating in a small town where everyone knows your name, your family going back several generations and who/when/where you last appeared while dating is frustrating. There is no expectation of privacy. I know from experience from living in a small town and area where families have settled for many generations. There are certain towns nearby where you can’t date anyone for fear of dating a distant relative!

It must be at the slow irritating middle of the drama stage. Gu Jia’s husband pretending to be a good husband is ridiculous. He thinks he is faithful by dragging out the time it takes to start sleeping with the young girl. He’s cheated already just by keeping her in hiding and sneaking around! Then, he sleeps with her, goes home and find faults with his wife! Shamelessly trying to justify his need to cheat in his mind. He has a great wife and that’s not good enough. The young girl is worst. She saw the happy family together and worked harder to seduce the husband. Another marriage on its way to destruction when this is exposed. No one wins.

I liked that they showed all the emotional baggage we carry into a relationship. Some vow to never make the same mistakes and fail. They showed the impacts on the child when parents are wrapped in their own emotions and dump some of their baggage onto the children. I wanted to see more on the psychiatric counseling and other ways to realize how to insulate our children from the toxic environment created when a family breaks up. The psychiatrist didn’t get much use and he was needed in almost every relationship shown. It makes for a more popular drama when people emotionally destroy each other. But, it’s hard watching a child getting scarred for life by the collateral damage of the parent‘a train wreck relationship.

Jtbc has another successful project! I was emotionally sucked into this drama from the early episodes feeling it was my duty to scold when they made bad decisions and to cheer when they stayed true to their positive beliefs! It is extremely addictive and I was all in! The emotional responses of the characters felt closer to truth than fiction. Many scenes were relatable. They stirred up raw emotions and created tension that I felt throughout the drama. I was never completely sure of the next scene. It was brilliant and refreshing to see this played out on only 16 episodes. The only thing lacking was full closer on some of the plot holes surrounding the major characters. I know this is a remake of the UK drama, Doctor Foster, and it stayed true to it. I wanted a bit more even if it meant changing the ending.
The acting, script, directing and musical score were great. I anticipate they will have many nominations during awards season. 9/10

Man Ni’s deplorable ex and the 7- year girlfriend are both mental. He gets high off the initial passion starting a new relationship and falling in love. The common law girlfriend gets high off crushing the soul of the unsuspecting woman when she exposes the truth. They are sick.

True. She and the husband were inseparable when they first met and married. Then, the marriage cooled as they all do. Overcoming the hard times build stronger bonds. The husband could score a point if he can make her see he is changing for the better.

She firmly believes she is a better match than his wife. In her eyes the wife starved him of dinner while she entices him with meals. He conveniently forgets to mention his old man stinky liver is loaded with fat so the wife is trying to keep him healthy. The girl thinks his wife hates fire and fireworks. He conveniently forgets to mention that he is one fireworks accident away from prison and destroying his whole family. So his wife doesn’t like the safety issues. But, why would he stop stroking his ego when he has an ignorant girl believing everything she makes up in her head.

I fully agree she should give her marriage a second chance! They have communications issues. She has maturity issues. They divorced on a dare! They should have tried to identify and fix the issues before the sudden divorce. I’m surprised they could get it that fast. Most places require 30 to 60 days wait before the divorce is finalized.
Plus, the young guy has no idea the rebound relationship after a major breakup rarely lasts. They get along, now. But, she still has strong feelings for her husband and is in the same house. Also, brother-in-law has a lot of tricks to rekindle the relationship.

It has some cute and funny moments. The behind the scenes antics are worth watching at the end of every episode. The chemistry is great within the whole cast. Looks like they had fun making this project. Gets repetitive and boring in the middle. Dropped 7.5/10
