Zhu Yan in the book was like 100times more frustrating as a character, she improved on book2 which I read some snippets but the way they wrote her was really unbearable to me on book1.
They actually toned down a lot for ZY in this drama but I understand that they can’t totally change everything for the sake of plot development from original. They need to retain some originality. Ren Min might be criticized for her appearance in this drama but cnetz can’t even deny her good acting. You can totally see it from her emotional scenes.

I’m a stan of her now, I even had watched Cry Me A Sad River & Serenade of Peaceful Joy.

It’s tears feast phase now. The ‘last goodbye’ at the wishing tree was truly well done and acted by both leads. The way they cried so effortlessly together.
The acting department didn’t disappoint at all for these two.

same, I was mad at Zhu Yan for being so reckless like that with the whole transformation into Yao Yi stuffs but then I realized it needs to happen for another plot of misunderstanding to kick in. Yuan will never leave her alone now that he thought she’s Yao Yi’s reincarnation. Misunderstanding needs to start somewhere to bring spice to the angst between main couple😌

Agree both leads acting is everything for this drama. They really be on full bloom for the start of the angst. They’re doing crying feast effortlessly😌

I agree lol her bang truly gets prettier. I especially love it on her during the drunk & hiding inside SY’s sleeve scenes. At first I despise it so much. But she looks way prettier without bang, I still remember how she looked on Serenade of Peaceful Joy.

She received so much praises for her acting and unique looks on Ray of Light, many people defended her because of the drama but in TLP she received criticism because of her looks yet they can’t deny her good acting. Ren Min is definitely a special case, getting praises & criticisms at the same time because both dramas are airing at the same time. But people did acknowledge her acting skill. I want to give her strength to overcome this.
Btw I also watched RoL and yes it’s really good, not your typical youth drama. It reminds me of GTO & Dragonzakura. It’s currently on top5 in ranking, with TLP at top1.

I actually have seen their FMV on youtube while watching FMV of Huirou and I have always thought they look really good together, glad to see they’re paired for real. The visuals of this drama already look so stunning. I freaking love Ren Min’s style here. She suits this kind of style.

I really love the ending credit song of TLP, it’s so soft and the lyrics perfectly in sync with the drama, I especially love this lyric:
