Good post. I have read almost the same article talking about women writers before this. I personally find it so upsetting to have all these female writers keep glorifying men, not that it’s a problem but they will write very underwhelming female characters to such non-existent perfect men. I know it’s a historical fantasy drama from the past but it’s 2023, it’s about time to write about how powerful women can be. Some writers have started to do that but some still stuck in ancient way of writing about women.

well if you can see the trend, viewers who are some women always will defend ML especially if he’s a big star. I like XZ too but I won’t judge or defend him blindly while putting FL on fire, you need to see from general perspective to actually realize what or who are root cause of the mess. Some people love to attack FL first, it has always been like that. People are always more critical to FL. My take is, most of them are fellow women from what I can observe and they’re more critical on women than men. You can see the trait. Same goes to women writers, some of them will create such wonderful male leads but lacking female leads.

Some of you people be calling FL childish and bratty yet loving Chong Ming’s antics because he’s funny or because he’s male perhaps? He’s 200yrs old yet even more childish than FL. Apparently it’s okay trying to sabotage and kill FL while being funny right? It’s okay to kill her just because she’s supposed to be SY’s calamity? It’s okay to kill a life who did nothing harmless than trying to resurrect ML who she thought died unfairly because of her? ML has much better conscience and morality to think as a better human. From what I had seen, some of the bad things happening to her was because of CM’s sabotaging her if you noticed. SY ended up saving her because it’s his choice, not that she caused trouble to him. On ep1, things happened because it was plotted by the merfolk from the beginning, ZY was just a catalyst they unfortunately used against him. Nothing againts CM because I found him funny too but please don’t overlooked what he had done because apparently some of you like ‘bromance’ more. Go and watch some BL. ZY is someone who needs guidance because she didn’t have fundamental theory education and SY can notice that. She’s willing to learn as well from him. She knows how to be thankful and saying sorry to him when she made mistakes. SY and CM are not innocent either. SY always left her misunderstanding stuffs even tho he did it for her own’s good. It took her own self awareness to understand his intention which is already a miracle compared to some FLs who misunderstood until the end. You only saw what ML did for FL when FL always went out of her ways to save him as well. I think the progress of them transitioning from mere acquitances who always disagreed with each other into master-disciple relationship with mutual respect is very well done. It’s beautiful.
Seriously I am feeling sad for her. Just watch some episodes and judging the acting.
