my takeaways from ep 21: - baobao & zhou yiran would do great paired up again in a mystery drama. they can solve crime together and be a pair of smarty pants - shangguan haonan is a hottie and i love his dynamic with you guanyue who saved this episode with his humour - who the hell put that drawing on the wall 😂😂😂
The kiss was so short. I wish we get a lot of lovey dovey scenes with them.
i think i would've been absolutely melted by the chair kiss if it weren't blasted all over my timeline ever since it dropped in the trailer and been talked about 😒
i personally loved the hot springs scene better and even the holding hands through the wall scene
can anyone make an edit of Cai Zhao and Mu Qingyan using Big Bang's "Bad Boy" song 🥺🥺🥺
the lyrics reminded me of them 🥺🥺
(pre chorus) Baby, I can’t, I’m so bad that I want to be good to you but it’s hard Everyday and night I’m so mean cause I’m so real so I’m sorry but I can’t change
(chorus) Me, whom you love Sorry I’m a bad boy Yes, just leave me, good bye you’re a good girl The more time passes, the more you get to know me only disappointments will remain but
Baby don’t leave me I know you still love me Why, yes, I’ll tell you the truth I need you
Should you watch it ? Depends what you are looking for!Visually, it’s refined, with great shots and awesome…
My opinion's different on how they handled this thematically. I wasn't into the past generation's issues at first, but I've come to appreciate the "loop" which is the point of the storyーgenerations of Mu men falling for Luoying Valley women whilst society is against it. If the loop were meant to be resolved already as you'd want it, let's just wrap this up in 15 eps instead of 37.
There's also a plethora of 'i wanna be the very best' type of wuxia shows already, so I'm glad this is diverging from that mould. No dumb training arcs, no filler side quests, no powerups pulled out of thin air (so far). I do want more fights, though.
I was also lukewarm towards Cai Zhao's character at the start even though I'm watching this because of Bao Shangen (whom I've only seen in Youthful Glory), but I've been completely won over by her especially in eps 16-17. There's a childlike innocence to her character that she's portrayed well, mixed with the confidence and ruggedness that her character requires.
episodes keep getting better, or if not better, there's a lot to enjoy per episode, whether it's character dynamics…
let me rewind those mu donglie × luo shiyun scenes real quick 🥴 nothing like a bit of stockholm syndrome from the gals and downbadism from the guys to spice up the romance aspect 😂😏
episodes keep getting better, or if not better, there's a lot to enjoy per episode, whether it's character dynamics…
i think this is a cdrama thing but even though there's an abundance of "pretty boys" it's always the elder men that truly amuse me!!! this time it's elder yan being summoned to help figure out the underground palace 🤣
episodes keep getting better, or if not better, there's a lot to enjoy per episode, whether it's character dynamics or pieces of plot and history being unfolded.
xue youfu aka mr. scammer with a cone hat is the definite MVP for being a scene stealer 🤣🤣🤣 look how he delivered the message to daddy song shijun and lord qi yunke 🤣
That answers your question then. It's an idol wuxia but the idols aren't A listers that can rake in a lot of domestic viewers hence only word of mouth can suddenly boost their popularity if not more promo.
Where was it revealed by the way that this was an S level production?
I totally agree with you, but also at the same time, this was my grip with the novel as well, and the drama so…
I haven't read the novel so based on what you said, there's already a vast improvement on FL being wishy-washy in the drama compared to the novel. Although she told him straight up in episode 8 that she wouldn't give up everything for anyone, much less for him, at all, she is seen to have caught some feelings for him and has been yearning for him in these eps that they were apart. There's also a line she says in one of the trailers that goes, "Even if I was just a pawn in your hand, I would give up everything again to help you" (non-verbatim). So, I don't know how long it'll take before she gets there, but as long as it's a reasonable buildup, it'll be worth it too I guess XD
I actually finished Love Between Fairy and Devil which had a similar theme of falling in love with someone from the other side, and it was clear at one point that Orchid finally chose Dongfang Qingcang and declared his home as her home, too. She had been choosing her home that never treated her right until she left that home. On the other hand, Cai Zhao's home has been good to her. Her family loves her. Her people love her (though there are bullies). So, I do get why it wouldn't be immediate for her to just choose an 'enemy' over her family.
Eps 12-13 were a visual treat! The Nightmare Butterfly scene was sooo ✨✨✨💖🍃🦋🧚♀️✨✨✨
My hatest character so far has definitely been Qi Yunke though. He cares more about Cai Zhao than his own daughter and that's been unnerving to me to observe. At least Yin Sulian is telling Lingbo to give up on liking a man that doesn't love you back because she knows what it feels like to be in a loveless marriage.
The masked man helping the ML looks like Uncle Lei in the wheelchair??
Same theory. The thing about masked characters is the reason they're masked is because they're recognisable to the audience if not masked 😆 so it's gotta be one of the characters we viewers already know. and who else are possible candidates but the invalid dude

after a heated confrontation between some oldies we get a journey for the kiddos 👶 ahhh i felt young again while watching this ep XD
