Both Huang Yaoshi and Feng Heng became intolerable by the end of this miniseries, for having the most undeserved love line. It's an overall story problem when you have a supposedly super strong character with unbelievable character development.
Zhou Yiwei's fights weren't even that good cause his fights used a lot of special effects.
Ouyang Feng and Chai Qiong were the saving grace of this drama.
I don't want to end up hate watching the rest of this franchise remake damn it but if this is already the one people preferred the most out of the miniseries I might have to think again if I'll continueβ¦
Mainly interested to watch Hot Blooded cause of Baobao, but I might as well watch the 4 other parts first! Hoping for enough mind-numbing action haha π€
Just finished it and can finally cross it off my list. It is good, has that classic feel to it. Not something I'd rewatch though.
Had a good buildup, I was kinda taking my time at the start. Towards the middle it was bingeworthy (also on 1.5Γ avg speed), and by the end I just wanted it to be wrapped up already.
Lovely acting from everyone, but in terms of casting, I didn't like how some of the mothers/consorts didn't really look old enough to be the mothers of the male characters lol. You could've convinced me they were siblings instead of parent-child. Even the emperor looked like he could've been brothers with his sons π
I know everybody loves Leo Wu but everytime Fei Liu popped up on my screen I just wanted to book a session for him with a developmental paediatrician π
OMG I can't wait for this one. It was a long novel but the story is quite nice and each character is really complex.…
I just finished the novel and I have to disagree about Hong Yi not shaving his head. Makes the drama feel more commercial and not as reverent. Shouldn't have been hard for him to get a buzzcut.
Bao Shangen played a nonchalant, avoidant but well-loved girl pretty well! Her display of strength wasn't the 'in your face' type which suited her character perfectly.
Reading the comments, I thought this would be so bad compared to the first season. Yet, here I am, 14 episodes…
I feel like people like to exaggerate the "dropoff" of S2 from S1 but in all honesty there's still a lot of creativity in S2 that would be considered peak for other dramas π€·ββοΈ
This is such a good review, I read it only now that i finished watching the series and I agree with the shounen…
Aw, thanks!!
I feel like the ratings on MDL for less popular cdramas, including this one, are more fairly rated to be honest? (Anything that scores above an 8 on MDL I just credit to an actor's fanbase and not because of genuine ratings.) At least, I didn't get the impression that people downvoted this one 'cause of the lack of romance.
Hear me out... "The Road to Splendour" sounds less cheesy (and more in line with θ±εΌι¦η»£ hua kai jin xiu or 'flowers in full bloom') than "Escape to Your Heart" π¬π
I'm more confused then ever? π€£ so did Mu Zhengyang betray the aunt at all? so was he the real mastermind and…
based on my understanding, mu zhengyang wanted power, so he did betray pingshu. he used her to get the items needed for ziwei method so that he could tempt nie hengcheng to learn it without telling him the final step which would cause him to die. however, mu zhengyang fell in love with pingshu in the process. still, he chose to kill her other friends (the ambush). one dude (lu chengnan) got away and revealed it to pingshu??? which i guess made pingshu angry so she killed mu zhengyang, and he, having nothing left to fight for, just let her kill him⦠i think. lol.
qi yunke's anger was still connected to the MZY/CP mess because if MZY never used pingshu to find the items and tempted nie hengcheng with ziwei method, nie hengcheng wouldn't have caused a rampage. pingshu learned disintegration method to kill nie hengcheng, and this method killed her eventually. qi yunke wanted to take revenge against anyone who contributed to pingshu's death, whether it be the demonic sect or other members o the six sects who "turned their backs" on pingshu.
that being said, i don't like this scriptwriter either π€£
For real....all that blood. And the final scene where her Qi Yunke bursted out streams of blood and died felt…
I cannot trust this director/scriptwriter combo ever again bruh. I didn't even read the novel and have no plans to do so, but I just feel bad for the novel fans who probably feel disappointed with these types of changes to the story.
It was weird to me. Like this dude has already killed a bunch of people and they still chose to glamourise his death that way? It comes off as someone projecting themselves in their work π΅βπ«

I like both titles either way! ETYH seems like it describes the first half of the drama while RTS describes the latter half maybe
Missing our Zhao Zhao πΈπ«

no wonder he looked so remorseful when fengchi proposed π
