I've only watched him in novoland and he was great there as well.. i was really affected by the ending and avoided his next dramas after that. Hahah Like when you want to get over a heartbreak, you tend to avoid anything that will remind you of that person. LOL
for people who think that this drama is gaining fame because of xiao zhan i hope you know this drama was cast…
Yep there was a behind the scene in untamed when XZ was talking to YB and told him he went to shoot for joy of life and he had long accepted the role so he should not miss it or something. :)
I didn't watch Untamed and don't know anything about Xiao Zhan. I will watch Joy of Life because I like original…
Not to worry, I'm currently watching first ep and like what many are already saying, it really has a good plot. Viewers will naturally like it not only bcos of the actors. Many were just happy to have XZ in this drama. He is loved for a reason. Maybe you'll need to watch Untamed to appreciate how wonderful of an actor XZ is. ❤

@Erudite thank you that made a lot of sense now regarding the scrolls. Though it was still weird that Prince DT was afraid to open that scroll when he actually just wrote it using water so technically he wrote nothing.

What I don't understand were 1.how the crown prince knew what to write when he forged the prince's calligraphy?.. it was too early to know the details/plot of the older prince..and 2.exactly when did he worked together with the examinee and his uncle? Cos if it was even before the uncle took the exam, then I don't understand why would they be willing to sacrifice that much for the crown prince. Is there some plot holes or I just missed a lot of things haha.
now rewatching ❤️ one thing i noticed in the sub though, actual name is shown instead of its direct translation..like yanli instead of senior sister.. oh well haha

You don't have to worry about the story. It wasn't heavily politicized as Nirvana but the plot and the story-telling were really good I would sometimes need a breather and calm my nerves down before I watch the next ep..lol Weiying has the best characteristics i like in a lead. He is selfless, bright, carefree, and funny. He has his flaws but you will empathize with him. It's your call, hope you'll give it a go. :)
All this talk about boy love has completely put me off wanting to try this as that's just not something I'd enjoy…
I'd advise you to go try it. I myself isn't interested in BL and the prod team/director actually did great in making the series both BL and non-BL friendly. I was hesitant to watch it at first, but it ended up to be my most fave series. ❤️

wow ty all for the spoilers. interestingly, im not sad about YR and JY liking each other but im glad instead. love their friendship and all but Asule does not deserve YR char at least as how i see it now. I ship him more with Suma or the Li princess.
this is the first time i ever wished for a sad ending..bcos there's just no other way!! I'd like to commend the writers, directors, and our dear actors for a beautiful tragic ending. so satisfying.. :D There are too many things I liked about this drama, even the small details such as the wardrobe (especially the danchi ones..XF is too pretty). The story is well-paced and well-written..there were no petty palace conflicts, if there were, they were not dragged. And can't believe a male lead can be the antagonist as well..haha it was refreshing, or maybe I wasn't watching enough heavy dramas. I hated LCY in almost the entire series but like XF, can't really hate him lols. Anyways, I love our main leads very much. I followed them in weibo and its cute that they both use their chibi characters in profile pic..cutie general pei as well..hehe All of them did very well.
i can watch this over and over.. it made me miss it started with a kiss of ariel lin..❤ i had a really good laugh throughout the movie and fell in love with the leads.. i also like to commend the writers and director, they did amazing job!
