I love when female directors are behind the camera telling stories about DV, which women do suffer in real life. The scenes where Hui Su fell down and the ML is kicking her. The camera only focus on the ML and thru that lens this portray how disturbing abusing men can be. I used to work in a DV shelter and some fears depicted in this show are accurate. Women have regrets, shame, guilt and deep fear in a DV relationship. The scenes where the sister stated the police have 90% unsolved DV cases that stat seem higher and probably a stat reflect in Korea. This show depicts a satisfying ending but in reality women still suffer from complex trauma and the intense of the abuse for years even after leaving the relationship. I think in a patriarchy society DV seems to normalized in most cultures which is unfortunate. I also know from experience working in the shelter there are male victims and women are the perpetrators. Due to shame and stigma not a lot male victims come forward and sometimes lack of resources for male victims. Studies shows it takes a person about 7 times to leave a DV relationship. If you or anyone you know is experiencing abuse remember it’s not you it’s what is happening to you. There might be a hotline DV number in your area but the national is call 1-800-799-7233 or call a trusted friend. You’re not alone. We stand with you!
I prefer that XY did not reunite with SH and kept the original storyline in the novel. The show wrapped up beautifully and everyone on the show did a great job! After watching the whole eps I notice I keep replaying the scene between XY and her grandma in scenes they are together. Something about that chemistry is very healing for me and bring me tears all the time.
The more I watch the show it feels parallel to ZLS’s real life. Her marriage in the show reflects her journey with her current agency. Like they say life imitates art. But I hope she does not renew any contract with her current agency and just leave. Anyways, so far viewing every eps ZLS did not come to play she ateeeeeee this role up!! Her performance is very captivating and exceptional.
Jung somin wasn’t exceptionally smart …. It’s just that fl was dumb so she had to die n come back to life.
Silly, you don’t get it. Doesn’t matter if the FL is dumb JS played them all– HS friends circle,FL first crush, bf/hubby, & coworkers in the first timeline. You may not agree but I think she did a good job influencing and manipulating different ppl. JS character is more cold and unforgiving than XY.
XY character is too soft to play this “game of deception”. Her lies is giving high school drama and even a high schooler can detect her deception early on. She should take note from Jung somin character from Marry your husband Korean version. Thats how you play the game of deception. Also I do notice flaws in XY character development. XY’s journey from being emotionally neglected and attachment issues as a child to becoming an adult she still has values and integrity. XY is still considered and caring for her family despite her resentment about the past. Scenes she offered to pay her father’s treatment and support her sister etc…The substance why she had to lie about her lifestyle was not necessary compared to her character values. I want to see more dirty games XY is cooking before she is exposed lol.
I dont know what to think about this...some scenes and transitions are so choppy, it feels like a very rushed…
Due to eps being under 50mins the way I see it they had to give a lot of snippets of timeline to audiences to build the complex narratives and drama. This structure can be complicated to portray that’s why certain transition in scenes are confusing or rushed. It’s not a simple storyline due to the deceptions and game each XY and SH is playing. I agree with you fashion/makeup in some moment as a viewer feels out of pocket and inconsistent. It’s funny you mention background music cause some sound effects is giving early 2000s lol but the ost is lit.
Does anyone know how contracts work? Does Galaxy Cool Entertainment have the power to stop Love Ambition from releasing? Regardless of commitment and contracts in place. We are half way Sept and no official date has been announced of its release. They say they will do a promo toward the end this month but it seems unlikely. Media seems to gaslight us to stay tuned and not releasing shit. I hate how they tryna play my girl Lusi.
She is someone who had already achieved becoming a feared general from scratch. Ofcourse it would be a walk in…
I disagree she was not general at first from scratch. It was easy at first because of her fancy title, privilege and the type of system of support she had accessed to. You stripped all these perks away and she came back as a nobody and look like a helper in the kitchen lol. Regardless her achievements in the past she is coming back starting from scratch! should have more complex in the portrayal of her character. Dynamic has shifted but they made it looked easy.
This show is highly disappointing. As a viewer I don’t feel the complexity of the FL entering a male dominated space to achieve her goal to reclaim her “legacy”. FL storyline seem more focus through the male gaze. It’s giving “walk in the park” to be a female general. I gave up watching this show 😩
so far this is my fav k-movie!! the dedication to the storytelling that depicts social inequalities, economic disparities etc. I find this movie packed with metaphor and unique perspectives on life. I think they should use this film to for study in university. This has similar message to Squid game, like we all live in capitalist society.
