Well, to be honest I don't know what's happening with The Wolf either. Most people still haven't completed and rated it so I would wait until we have more data. Talking about Xiao Zhan and his works that are affected - f.ex. short film Buying Ears was rated by 70 people and according to MDL 93% of those ratings are 8-10 but average rating is 7.6 (it dropped from 9.5). I'm not saying MDL is targeting his works (lol) but I don't really understand how those algorithms work after this change.

There are probably some people who are making fake accounts to either boost or lower the ratings so I hope these new changes will make things better. As far as I'm concerned average of 9.5 from people who completed and 4.75 from people who dropped it after few episodes says enough [and that's after the change].

Which one got the boost? From what I've seen they all dropped or stayed the same, most of them by 0.1-0.2. Either way, fake ratings/accounts should be deleted. Ratings from those who didn't even complete the shows should be counted less imo but that's a whole other story.

I actually agree with you when it comes to the ML and can understand your point of view seeing how you watched only 14/46 episodes, but in my opinion the best part of this show comes in the last 15 or so episodes. Not trying to tell you to give it another shot or anything, just saying there is actually a good reason for a high rating it has. But yeah, I agree that ML's hypocrisy is unbearably annoying.

Throughout the show I couldn't really decide whether I liked the ML or not. Even though he had some good moments most of the time I found him annoying and less interesting than the rest of the supporting characters, but in the end he won me over. The beginning was a bit slow and draggy, but the second part of the show (especially after they leave the capital) is amazing. It kept me on my toes until the end and that last episode completely blew me away. I didn't plan on giving it 10/10 but I have no other choice after that.

I really hope they keep the same cast for the second season. I originally came for Xiao Zhan but the whole supporting cast is outstanding.

People who don't want to see any spoilers should just stop visiting this page, for real. It's insane how many inconsiderate people there are (╬ಠ益ಠ). Do yourself a favor and stop checking this comment section.

Is there some specific reason why you have doubts? We all have different tastes when it comes to TV shows so I can't say that you'll definitely love it if you continue watching, but I can say that the first episode really isn't enough to decide whether this particular show is good or not. I was hesitant at first because there were 50 episodes and I wasn't used to that, and then I decided to watch it and I got intrigued after the first episode (even though I thought it was a bit cringey) but only after 10+ episodes have I realized how much I actually love it. It takes some time for the story to pick up momentum but once you get to that point you'll know why so many people love it.

Yeah, that's what I plan to do. The only reason I'm willing to pay at all is Xiao Zhan. Btw, WeTV is international version of Tencent, right?

The 'censored romance' tag is for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, something between strong bromance and romance. They never kiss or anything like that but their feelings for each other are beautifully portrayed and couldn't be more obvious. Hope that helps :)

I keep coming here every day to check if English subs have been added but no luck lol. I wonder if they even plan to sub the whole show :/
