Ok they ruin a beautiful thing by adding the lawyer guy. Wtf.did the drama writers have shit for brain or something…
Personally, I found the lawyer segment an effective use of a “rival”, and it provided lots of laughs as well as a bridge for YS’s growth, even Prof Zhang’s. It would have been annoying if it had lasted longer, but it was not dragged on beyond its usefulness. I appreciated that.
Most useless character award goes to Tie Xinlan, dear lord she was dumb. The show would have been no different…
I think personal preference is one thing, and not understanding the role of a character in a story is another. Tie Xin Lan was actually the linchpin character of the story - whether her character appealed or otherwise - and her relationships with the brothers were of a pivotal importance to the story and their characters and growth. Without her, there would actually be no two brothers by the end.
this was a good drama but there were just too many subplots that were just pointless... the mother and child subplot…
The subplots - irrelevant as they seemed - make up the whole story. They might seem pointless to some, but I thought they were actually the heart(s) of the drama and the message(s) it was trying to convey.
Thank you very much for this wonderful review. Your review put forward what the drama did best so well.
As a fan of Takahashi, I am particularly appreciative of your mention of him here. He was superb here, and it was gladdening to read that there were others who thought so too. Thank you.
A great drama if viewed from the perspectives of social commentary and characters. Loved the realistic takes it had on what constitutes a relationship (traditional, non-traditional, conventional, non-conventional etc) and how much effort goes into any, if stability and durability are goals. A funny, fascinating and thought-provoking drama.
EP2.Aikawa Kazuki - "I rarely get along with other people. But I get along with the person I wanted to the most,…
I loved this scene. It was both laugh-out-loud and heart-breaking. Some people go through phases like what he did, and some never manage to completely get along with themselves (love themselves for who they are, not for who they hope/wish/dream they should/could be) for much too long. The surprising thing (then) was how very frank he was. At that stage, Mizumoto-Sensei was not getting along with herself all that well, either. It was a scene choked full of lessons, I thought.
Thank you for writing a review, could you please advise on where to watch this or/and the other versions if you…
I hope you manage to find it. I just hope you won’t be disappointed. It is after all a personal preference which adaptation/version one likes the most. That said, I do think the production value was high for my favourite version. Cheers.

There should be no issue at all in terms of watching sequence. Though it is written loosely as a trilogy, the Condor Heroes being the middle story, the stories span generations, so each story focuses on their own characters and plot. These are “classics”. I hope you will derive lots of enjoyment from the stories/dramas.
This is an excellent drama! Heartfelt, heartwarming, wise and empowering, it is that gem of a drama which is both well-written and acted. Takahashi is a joy to watch here, and the characters and storyline provide many learning opportunities and themes to marvel at.

Thank you for the comment. I am not certain where you can watch this with English subtitles nowadays, as I watched it while it was airing more than a decade ago. If not mistaken, I found some episodes on YouTube, but am not sure of the subtitles. Sorry that I could not be of much help.
The drama will be ending in another 3 episodes. After dropping it, will be watching again to see whether Masatsugu…
Thank you. Never noticed him there while it was airing (just a glance here and there while it was on), but knew after Naotora. Am seriously considering (re)”watching” Kanbei.

Yes, drama!Masatsugu was certainly too precious to be historically accurate. He was a very popular character, and well-loved. While fans hope he would make an appearance in the last episode, the expectations for that is actually low.
I think the present cast list could just be a representation of his - Takahashi Issei - level of appearance at current episodes, which was basically nil. No matter his rank on the cast list, 2017 is, without a doubt, Takahashi Issei’s year. He has been chosen by some magazine as the “Entertainer/Face-of-the-Year”, and his popularity is through-the-roof at the moment. About time too.

Wishful thinking, most probably (as a MasaTora shipper, I can be pretty delusional). Oh, he is conclusively dead, but some fans are still hopeful he may make an appearance as a figment of the imagination or memories(?) at the end.
Masatsugu/Tajima is such a great character. I think he may top Tal Tal for me.
He was a fantastic character. However, the way he was written for the drama was quite different from what the few facts of history known about him painted him as.
Were subbers fans of you know who and gave up after you know what happened? There hasn't been any updates in forever…

Hello, I was just wondering if you're familiar with the history of the Three kingdoms? And if this show truly…
This drama is based on the novel, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, one of the four great novels in classical Chinese literature. The novel itself - written quite some time after the real historical era - was a dramatization of the period of the Three Kingdoms, and was thought to be (roughly) accurate about main historical events and the characters. However, as it was still a novel, and one with its own agenda, the story within should not perhaps be understood as literally the real history of that period. Still, it is the most popular one we have, and that popularity has spanned hundreds of years.
Ah, Bollywood, the ultimate song-and-dance nolstagia! Loved KKKG, and still one of my favourite when it comes to Bollywood. Comforting, joyful and sweet in infrequent doses!
There are certainly some great movies from recent years too, it seems. When will Indian cinema and dramas be coming to kisskh? Thanks.
