I’m gonna be as honest as I can about this series. I’m cutting it some slack because it’s from China.I know…
He is! He might be my fav character of the whole show tbh. Maybe I'd suggest for you to watch their scenes (if you feel like it). They've been super sweet these last few episodes (I havent seen the more recent ones yet) and Chengyu's character is practically a green flag, if we compare it to Chi Cheng.
I’m gonna be as honest as I can about this series. I’m cutting it some slack because it’s from China.I know…
YES! IT WAS DISTURBING. I genuinely never re-watch older shows bc I know I'm going to be hit with those scenes.
This is only my personal perspective, like I told you (being 100% honest), I just pretend the rape scenes don't exist, I ignore Chi Cheng's whole 'rapist-gangster' thing, and I also ignore the snakes plot (the translation is confusing and it's easier). I focus more on the relationship itself and on the characters. I almost separate the good side of his character as what his character is really supposed to be like, and all the other stuff is just bad choices made by the production and writing team, due to their 'inexperience' with bls.
What's your opinion about the second couple btw? Other than a few early interactions, I'm genuinely enjoying those two. Chengyu's character is a bit more digestible than Chi Cheng.
Ok, so I debated with myself about posting this because I know I'm probably about to piss off everyone in these…
I’m gonna be as honest as I can about this series. I’m cutting it some slack because it’s from China.
I know that’s hypocritical, because if this had been a BL from a country with a well-established industry, I probably would've dropped it after those early scenes.
But here’s why I’m giving it a chance.
I remember back in 2016, when BLs weren’t as big and I had just started watching them, there were so many questionable scenes coming from places like Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan—especially involving SA, drunk SA, or even r*pe. It was disturbing. But over time, things changed, especially after viewers started calling out those tropes and giving a lot of negative feedback.
In my opinion, China’s still figuring this out. Because of censorship, they haven’t really had the freedom to explore or develop BL stories the same way other countries have.
It took years of criticism and audience pushback for others to move away from this kind of content, and I think China has to go through that same learning process.
So yeah, I’m choosing to ignore the problematic scenes in the beginning (mentally pretending they didn’t happen, honestly) and focus on the bigger picture. This drama feels like a big step forward for Chinese BL, and I really hope they keep going—because the more they create, the more they’ll figure out what works and what really doesn’t.
You have every right to dislike the show. You have every right to feel disturbed that something with implied gng rpe scenes is getting such high ratings. That reaction is completely valid and honestly, it needs to be part of the conversation.
That said, there’s a lot I genuinely like about this drama. The acting is great, the romance feels sincere, and the chemistry between the leads is really solid. That’s what makes it easier for me to overlook the negative stuff and appreciate what the show is getting right.
Honestly, I’m enjoying this season way more than season 1. The plot’s getting more interesting and the scenes feel a lot less messy.
I LOVE Willy's character as a plot device for tension and as a small antagonist. Milk pulls it off super well.
The only thing that’s annoying me is the whole Pete / Way / Chris storyline. The more I see of them, the less I want to. Hot take maybe, but I just don’t think there’s that much chemistry there. That one scene between Kenta and Pete in season 1 had way more 'spark'.
That said, I actually like Kim Kenta way more than Kenta Pete or Pete/Way/Chris. So why are we only getting crumbs??? It makes zero sense that we're getting almost no scenes.
I don't even understand why they had to keep this weird CGI effects, especially with the "glowing blood stuff",…
Yeah idk what's going on with the blood stuff or why they thought they would need this effect???? They could have saved the budget...it's a vampire show, it's kind of obvious that blood affects vampires. And the CGI eyes? HATE THEM!!!! They could’ve just done the Vampire Diaries thing where the eye color darkens or used some decent colored contacts. Mark’s eyes look so weird!
I think you're lonely and that's why you're so negative. It's a coping mechanism. I hope things get better for you really. Life is more enjoyable without too much negativity! Btw I saw that you enjoy mostly Korean shows, maybe give the eighth sense a try!
I think you felt it in respect to joss but it didn't feel like his movement weren't in anyway fragile...joss is…
i felt this all throughout this episode to be honest. it didn't look like he was acting naturally, it seemed like there was extra effort to make him small, helpless and clueless. but maybe it will be different in the next episodes 😭
I think you felt it in respect to joss but it didn't feel like his movement weren't in anyway fragile...joss is…
yeah i agree! so i don't understand why they're making him act 'small' or 'extra fragile'. idk if you remember the first trailer for this show, but i think the vibe there was different and maybe more 'believable' than the one we got more recently.
I'm actually so obsessed with gawin in this, it should be studied 😭 I love his body language a lot. it's really…
he does! omg i also think he's cute! he seems really soft actually! but not like 'i can't cut cake, get a job or be trusted to do things on my own' you know ? ahah softness doesn't bother me, I just think they made him EXTRA fragile and also made his body language very 'unaturally' small. but it's just the first episode! maybe things will improve
I think you felt it in respect to joss but it didn't feel like his movement weren't in anyway fragile...joss is…
yes like i said, maybe it's more of a me thing??? idk, I will still enjoy the show reguardless, I just don't feel like this is a good character for him. his movements don't come off naturally, to me it looks like he's trying his best to look small. and yeah joss is trying his best to look super big and strong. he's not really that HUGE. he's more fit though.
I'm actually so obsessed with gawin in this, it should be studied 😭 I love his body language a lot. it's really…
That's great! I hope I start to get obsessed with it too 😭 I like Gawin a lot. Maybe it's just a me thing and I have to get used to it. (maybe it also has to do with the fact that he looks too athletic for a character that suposedly can't exercise bc he can't get hurt)
I'm definitely going to enjoy this, even if it's just for a good dose of cheesy vampire romance.
I’m not sure this "baby girl" character suits Gawin though. Honestly, he’s a great actor (the only reason I even finished Be My Favorite), but I just think he looks too clever to play someone so clueless. Btw I’m not saying actors need to look dumb to play naive characters, but in his case, it doesn’t feel believable. Also, it seems they're trying to make him look smaller (maybe to make him more helpless?), but it's weird. We've seen Gawin in not me, be my favourite and even perfect 10 liners...he's not tiny at all. And here, he's not moving naturally, it looks like he takes smaller steps and makes subtle gestures to appear fragile—just so Joss can seem more masculine and "stronger"
It's only episode 1, so a lot can change. But no one seems to be talking about this...maybe it's just a me thing???
is it just me, or is joong the star of the show?? i’m usually not into gmmtvs crime dramas, so ive been skipping a lot, but i never skip his scenes. also his performance in the last episode???? he got me so emotional 😭
