i really hope this is the last time Poon gets the empty-headed/silly role 😭 he can actually act but they keep giving him the same type of character 🄲 (this is the fourth series i watch he's in)

on the other hand, I LOVE how Ohm finally breaks out of his usual serious/quiet roles. this big puppy energy suits him so much?? it's super refreshing to watch

I love how they explore this theme without making it depressing, and instead bring us into this cute slice of life. I genuinely admire Yahiro as Gaku because how can he be that good at acting at such a young age 🄹 He feels so natural. The brother complex trope is common in manga and anime, so seeing it in live action feels like something. Not exactly good or bad, just… interesting in its own way. If you think of it as an exaggerated version of brotherly love, it doesn’t come off as that weird. I enjoyed this a lot and really hope they make a season 2.

The director keeps his style from Nobody Knows, but this one feels more polished and actually has a solid plot. Both movies capture realism, but while Nobody Knows is almost like a documentary, Shoplifters feels like a real story you get pulled into. It’s heartbreaking and really makes you question your own sense of right and wrong.

honestly, it’s a pretty decent attempt at turning a game into a movie. the story mostly sticks to the passage and there’s not much plot, so it ends up feeling more symbolic than anything. there’s some suspense and horror, but the time loop gets kinda repetitive and tiring...just like playing the game. still, i think they did a solid job trying

if you’re looking for a good thriller with lots of plot twists, this series is for you. the plot keeps you on…
the only complaint i have is i wish it were more psycho and that an yun su was the real killer, because it would’ve made the ending unforgettable.

i dont deny that our past shapes who we are now. everyone has their own unlucky or bad moments in life. but ah jin really plays the victim a lot, even guilt tripping junseo since they were kids. the only time i actually agreed with her was when she killed her dad because he hurt her too, so that felt fair in its own way.

but what she did to innocent people like her boss and in gang is where i completely check out. i get that shes a sociopath and the show lets us see how her mind works, but understanding a character and rooting for them are two different things. she ended up doing the same kind of harm her dad did to her, hurting people who werent even at fault.

i honestly didn’t expect to cry at the final ep 😭 thank god i ended up watching this even if i’m a year late lol. everything was just so good… the story, the comedy, the characters, even the effects. maybe it’s just me but taynew nailed that bromance vibe fr. such a solid series from gmmtv.

i didn’t read the novel, so the movie was okay for me, but the cgi kinda overstimulated me. it feels like a mix between game graphics and superhero effects crashing into each other. overall it’s still cool though, i just feel like this story would’ve worked way better as a series instead of movie.

the amount of junseo slander here…
honestly i get why people are mad at him because yeah, choosing to die together with ah jin isn’t exactly the best way to ā€œfixā€ things. but i kinda understand where he’s coming from. in his mind, the only way to stop her from using people was for her to die, and he convinced himself that was the only way she’d ever change.

the story really shifts depending on whose lens you look through. junseo, with his selfish kind of love that still wants ah jin to be better. jae oh, who’s basically her ride or die and sees her more clearly than anyone. and then ah jin herself, a protagonist who uses people to get what she wants. the characters are written so well that everyone ends up having strong opinions depending on their own moral line.

it’s fictional, of course, but i’m lowkey concerned at how many comments are siding with ah jin. like… you can’t blame everything in the world and act like that excuses all your choices.

don’t trust the ratings guys! this is such a well-made comedy with just the right touch of drama. the father-daughter dynamic is so fun and heartwarming. honestly, no idea why the rating’s so low when the movie gives us so much.
