Misinterpretation is a very bad thing. Cheating is when you do things deliberately with full consciousness and full conscience. If you call what Teh did entirely as cheating, more than half of the relationships in the world will fall apart right away as I write this. Please be careful how to interprete things like rape and cheating or betrayal.
I am totally pissed because of the way people bashing Teh as well as the directors and writers just because reality threatens their own way of thinking. Some are even discrediting the entire series just because the story is not like a happily ever after fairy tale.
I don't see the change in the way of storytelling as a problem. It's a series, not a movie, so expecting to witness the same aesthetics as ITSAY in IPYTM is probably wrong for us. I mean I somehow complained about the same things as you but it was a matter of time to realize that I was a fool. We can in no way discredit their work. Look at the quality.

Please get my point here. I am well aware how popular they're but it's about quality and not quantity. And everything that's popular need not be a good drama/movie. Only a wise will understand this fact.
Look at dramas like 1000stars, MoD, ITSAY, SOTUS, ToL, DBK, Love Sick. How unique and how beautiful! But in most of the cases, they're just repeating the same old stuff, AGAIN AND AGAIN. Trust me, they can do better and they could attract a lottt more mass than this if they come out of their comfort zone to make series of different conepts.
There's many people out there who likes rom com. Tell someone to "change their taste" is pure rude.
