that poor kitty looked so stressed in the first episode T-T
I thought the same! π I brought it up to a friend and they said that the heat in Thailand doesn't help, which is probably another factor in addition to the stress π
I was thinking of DID too but am on the verge of scrapping that theory because of some research. I'm not an expert…
So glad we can have a great discussion like this!! Echoing all your sentiments, and I can't wait to see where the rest of this story goes - who knows, we might have hit the nail on the head or we're playing a completely different game altogether! π Either way I'm so here for it! Cannot wait to see more of your wonderful insights, and hopefully to share my own!! βΊοΈπ€
So, Iβve been totally wrapped up in this drama about twins, Nant and Nont. Itβs a total mindbender! None of…
I was thinking of DID too but am on the verge of scrapping that theory because of some research. I'm not an expert (just a researcher like you, and a very dedicated fan of this series! π) but I did want to maybe pop in some things here if that's okay?
From what I understand, the majority of people with DID develop it because of childhood trauma, during the more crucial stages of development. You're so right when you say it's more intricate than a TV drama can capture, because portrayals of it in media has been so incorrect in the past (the biggest example from what I know based on interviews/videos I have watched about people with DID is a film called Split, which is seriously misinformed). If what Nant/Nont has is DID, I think we'd be veering into that territory of the writers not being able to portray it correctly (but as we know, not many people are able to do this in the first place, mostly due to lack of research or simply because of the dramatic effect they're going for in their show). If Nant/Nont faced severe trauma during their childhood, then this theory would be more plausible as DID can manifest later in life - but only if the seeds have been sown in the first place. Generally, it's not common to develop DID later in life.
However, dissociation in general is ABSOLUTELY a valid theory! What you're describing sounds a lot like dissociative amnesia, where there are gaps in memory that can occur after traumatic events. After seeing flashbacks of what Nant went through, I would say his experiences would fall into that category. It's more plausible than DID, but that's only because we don't know exactly what the twins went through in their childhood, so unless that's cleared up I'm going to take that theory with a grain of salt. I still think it's on the books that Nant and Nont are the same person - it would make sense to me that after everything Nant went through, his mind has blocked out certain aspects of his past (the thing throwing me for a loop is if that was the case, why would he change his name and make up that he was a twin because that's more of the DID route, which wouldn't make sense to me based on what I know and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh so confusing but so fun to dissect! xD)
I wholeheartedly agree that no matter what route this is manifesting - DID, dissociative amnesia, trauma, etc - I truly hope that they take mental illness seriously. I'm not expecting true-to-life and completely serious portrayals of mental illness (with the direction this show is going clearly that is not what it's about), but I just hope whatever is done is done so with respect.
Hope this made sense and sorry for such a long reply!! I was honestly thinking the same thing as you with DID (though I'm feeling this is more just general dissociation, until I see more flashbacks of Nant and Nont to prove otherwise). Sorry again!! π
the sunflower on the chair? that left you breathless?
I'm sure OP means the whole scene of Day and Mhok at the end of Ep 5 where they were drinking and Day was talking about his feelings for August. A flower on a chair is not a scene - it's just part of the cinematography π₯Ή
I really didnβt like Vice Versa. Itβs the only BL that Iβve ever dropped and not watched all the way through.…
It took me a while to watch Vice Versa and I liked it when I finally got around to finishing it - but Last Twilight is leagues above. Jimmy and Sea have always been good actors in my opinion, but their acting is incredibly elevated in this show now that they've had experience. P'Aof is the director and I've never been let down by any of his series. Plot wise, I personally found Vice Versa a little hard to follow (had to rewatch certain parts to make sure I understood the story correctly, which is why it took me so long to get through it), but Last Twilight is very easy to follow along with. It's a truly amazing series that evokes so many emotions and the story is portrayed so wonderfully by Jimmy and Sea with the guidance of P'Aof and the team. I'd highly recommend Last Twilight π₯Ή
Ahhh thanks for the heads up! I watched both eps on YouTube but it didn't even occur to me there'd be an uncut version. Whoa that would be a strange jump!! 8.3 to 7.8, whoa (though, I'm also still reeling from Playboyy's rating too - started at like 8.6 I think and now on 6.9, yikes!π ) But thank you for letting me know about Cooking Crush!
And yesss absolutely, so glad that Last Twilight is getting love and recognition! I'm hopeful the rating will continue to rise π₯Ήπ€
I thought I'm the only one who doesn't like him at all.
Sorry, I maybe didn't word that right. Not you specifically. I meant in general that people might like him π€£ just from what I've seen online, if that makes sense. Sorry!
It makes sense! All good! I don't really share that sentiment but I understand where you're coming from βΊοΈ I'm just happy that Last Twilight is doing so well! If we are to judge it by your standards, then it sure is the highest! π€
On another note, I didn't even know there was an uncut version of Cooking Crush π€£
