Hua Yong is by far my favorite character, I absolutely love him and I love Huang Xing's portrayal of him. What I also enjoy so much is the friendship between Hua Yong and Shen Wen Lang. The lengths these two go to, to piss each other off, is nothing short of epic. (and hilarious)
I read the book, I wanted to state that outright. - So... spoilers- Honestly watching episode 6, I wasn't mad one bit at Hua Yong. I was in awe of the level of acting. In the book it is stated his level of acting is second only to his wealth, or something like this. And damn, lol, chef's kiss π. I will admit, I do not feel sorry for Sheng Shao You at all. Not at all and I love the character. Reason: even when he knows Hua Yong is manipulating him and/or outright lying to him, he doesn't care. Oh, he gets angry, but they are so deeply in love with one another, well, nothing else matters. Someone needs to have Hua Yong teach a Masterclass, cause, again, damn. The manipulation is top tier. There is manipulation and then there is Hua Yong, he is a category unto himself. Now, Shen Wen Lang, if there was an award given for how many times a person can shoot themselves in the foot, that award would certainly go to him. Every time he opens that mouth. After the scene where the Doctor tells him to "man up" he still doesn't get it. Which begs the question "how thick can you be? " This, of course, does not require an answer, he showed us. Both Shen Wen Lang and Gao Tu have so much unresolved trauma they are abusing themselves and each other with, they could be the poster couple for Mental Health ads. I absolutely love this drama. What bothers/worries me the most is the history already laid out with Chinese dramas of the LGBTQIA+ variety. China has a long standing history of censoring. Why these type of dramas are not released in a quicker manner is beyond me. There is the ongoing fear they will be shut down. This is just my two cents on that matter.
At this point Hua yong doesn't need Oscar. Rename Oscar as Hua Yong. π€£
I absolutely love this comment. I've been searching for an award with more "oomph" than the Oscar to describe Hua Yong's performance and you nailed it. Anything of this caliber can only be named the "Hua Yong." π€£
I just started this and binged to the lastest episode. Im in love with Huang Xing's character. Makes me feel like…
I laughed at the "pocket full of sunshine," he is ruthless. Hua Yong is such a great character, he's at the top of the food chain and it shows. I haven't enjoyed a character this much since Style in "Heart Killers." You can read the book on https://chrysanthemumgarden.com/
The Enigma beauty I still don't see. He looks handsome but I prefer the S-Alpha look to his. Meanwhile the novel…
I appreciate this, different people, different attractions. I do agree with you regarding his embodiment of the character, so far it's perfect. I do really hope it continues. And yes, sanity wise, once a week, so cruel.
I've watched the first three episodes I honestly don't know how many times. But damn, Huang Xing is breathtaking. Every time that man is in the frame, I am caught off guard by how stunning he is.
I don't know about anyone else but I think we need to petition someone, one episode a week going forward is simply not enough, they should stick with three at a time, or release it all at the same time, I'd be cool with that. π
Question for the collective: Who do you feel has the best translations? iQIYI, Viki, YOUKU, or WeTV? Although who am I kidding I'll probably watch it on all four.
What missing piece are you referring to? From what I saw was CC stayed at the hospital to watch over WSW the whole…
I am completely blaming this on being sick with COVID. Holy crap, my brain had the scenes in another place. I went back this morning and reran it and sure enough you were right. I think I'll put my keyboard away til I'm better :P
Guys, I have a question: Aren't the characters' voices in the series the actors' own voices?
No, they are not. And honestly I do not know why. I once saw someone post that it could be due to the many dialects spoken in China but I have absolutely no idea if this is true.
I just rewatched a portion of episode 9, there is a piece missing, when Shuai went to the hospital the next morning and spoke with Chi Cheng before the Dr called him into the hallway. Has anyone else noticed any pieces missing? Or why these pieces are missing?
I keep seeing the comments continually returning to the gang-grape scene and how people are upset, horrified, etc. And you should be. Now, with that said, think about who Chi Cheng is. He's mafia, if not mafia, then a pretty tough gang leader or whatever he is, it's illegal and he is ruthless. And how would you horrifically punish a man or a woman for that matter? Is it right? No. Does it happen, yes. This is life, like it or not. Chinese dramas are on a level all their own and they pretty much keep it real, the good, the bad and the ugly. I haven't read the book so I cannot comment on the correlation between the two but plenty of people in the comments have and have stated they are following the story line. If you cannot move past this, and no one will fault you for it if you cannot, then by all means, drop the series. It isn't for you. There are plenty of feel good stories out there. Again, no judgement. But, if you decide to stay and see it through , then, and I say this in the gentlest way possible, grow up, realize this is a part of the story, a very unpleasant part of the story, and move forward.

Sheng is in for one heck of a ride.
