Hahaha, the trust issues we've developed from watching dramas!!
The betrayals we've experienced being let down by bad writing, bad editing, bad endings, bad censorship ... (I'd venture to say that these are worse than bad acting!)
But I guess means Wen Ying has been perfectly cast for his role! π
Well, we all wanted to know about He Yin......she can go back now. What an annoying being. The FL is def not thinking…
yeah, our curiosity was satisfied with a vengeance, hehe.
She was so loud, pushy, prejudiced, annoying and ... LOUD!! Jiu'er summed her up perfectly when she thought that the girl doesn't need anyone to talk to - she can just talk to herself and carry the conversation, since she never lets anyone get a word in edgewise!
It doesn't help that the actress they used (or her makeup) looks older than the FL - to me at least.
If they're really gonna pair her up with WJ, it will need a heck of a redemption arc!
I was not too fond of that arc. It strays from the main plot and the moment I saw the kid I knew he did it. It's…
yeah, I didn't really see what the case added to the show - apart from giving our CP time to miss each other and confirm their feelings. I'm also pissed that they killed off Keyuncha as soon as he was just reunited with HZ. I'd be interested to see if Kaka plays a bigger role in the story, though. He's plucky and reminds me of a mini HZ. With his interesting background and personality, he could definitely help our leads out with the Qi-Qian situation.
Yeah, I didn't really get the point of having this case tbh. Jiu'er could figure out the loophole in 5 mins, even…
Yeah it seems like a total red herring! If they're not gonna tie it back to the bigger picture, why show Lao Liu going to such elaborate lengths to free HZ, disguising himself with a black cloak & agarwood?! Did he even know enough about Qi people to know how to mask his scent?
I'd rather they spent the time on investigating bigger cases, or Mu Yan's background, or developing the romance between Wen Ying/Chilan or HZ/JE!!
Ep 25: apropos of nothing, a random observation ... was it just me or did anybody else notice the mobile phone ringing in the background (~39min mark)?! π€ͺ
If a protective father, Lao Liu, knew that his son accidentally kill people on raining weather, why donβt he…
Yeah, I didn't really get the point of having this case tbh. Jiu'er could figure out the loophole in 5 mins, even Wen Jun was quick to catch on too! Getting her suspended off the case and tampering with evidence could only delay the inevitable.
Sure, the leads got to reevaluate their feelings while being separated from each other, and we got some reality checks about HZ needing to fulfil his duties, which would put even MORE obstacles between Jiu'er and himself! But it felt a bit filler-ish to me.
Sure, Uncle Hu was a father figure to Jiu'er and she was devastated by his death, but HZ also just lost a friend he's known since childhood, so it would've felt more symmetrical if they'd balanced both losses and shown them both working through it in parallel...
I really hope they find some explanation for Jiu'er's mysterious illness and WHY only HZ's touch can revive her! And they haven't made any progress on finding Mu Yan either. A lot to get through and not many eps to go!!
I rewatched Ep 15, there is this convo between Prince Jun and a marquis who is He Yin's father. So He Yin has…
yeah, they better make the most of the time they've got left!
on the other hand, it's much better to WOOSH WOOSH the story along rather than dragging it out with fillers! πΊπ
Looks like WJ's gonna be the one prince who ends up with a non-Qi partner. Fair enough, it's sufficient for the cross-race torch to be carried by 2 CPs, and it wouldn't be fair if the Qian girls didn't get a chance too!!
Jiu Er - Even when she was so upset and suffered such a great loss, the FL still believed in the ML and wanted…
Just saw yr comment and agree wholeheartedly! No histrionics or wanton misunderstandings on either side.
Jiu'er's commitment to the truth remains unwavering, and she went back to reinvestigate the crime scene not just for Uncle Hu's sake, but for HZ and herself. Even in her grief, she gave him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he'd just been too concerned about his friend to consider her uncle. As for HZ, even in prison he was worrying about her health daily, and managed to pass some of his Vitality Stone (I'm assuming) to WJ for her.
The writers have been pretty good at avoiding overused tropes so far. Taking this incident as an indicator of how our leads will react when up against (inevitably) even bigger obstacles beyond their control, I'm hoping we won't go down the Noble Idiocy/sacrifice-without-telling-you route. Well, they could probably second-guess each other's thoughts anyway.
Chilan's a straightforward and tolerant gal with no known hangups/traumas/conditions, so I hope she and Wen Ying quickly get together to become a strong ally for Team HZ/JE - they'd be a real power couple for sure! She was so thoughtful about burying Keyuncha with Shi Luqing, and even got the father's permission - she's the perfect ambassador indeed, and the perfect older sister for JE & HZ (always cleaning up after him, lol).
The usually annoying constables are not a hopeless case after all (pardon the pun) - they seem to have a pretty good relationship with Kaka ("you're back again", "tell me if you need anything", "don't fight anymore"), and they worry about HZ ("don't eat the cold rice, here, have the warm one instead"), so I find that quite promising for future Qi-Qian relations.
Him being in jail because he allegedly killed Lau Hu when trying to help Keyuncha escape. SJR really wanted to…
haha, couldn't scroll past this classic line from QIHM - one of my all-time fave shows!! π (and the fact that he had no idea of what he was actually saying π)
I know it's par for the xianxia genre, but I need to take a break now and again by feasting my eyes on something like this show, or A League of Nobleman, which was also gorgeous in an understated way.
... they were a bit sad, but I still really enjoyed them. If anything they made me appreciate this drama even…
Agree, the funeral ceremony was beautiful and poignant and tastefully done. Everyone was united in their sincerity towards Lao Hu, and truly saw his value as a friend and colleague. It kind of reminded me of the modern day ceremonies held for military and police forces.
And yes, I too was relieved that no-one wasted time on accusing HZ (he feels bad enough as it is). Even in the midst of her grief, Jiu'er still stayed in character and went back to reinvestigate the scene, instead of having uncharacteristic hysterics like FLs in other dramas might have done.
Glad they gave us a chance to appreciate the side characters in a new light, even though they can be petty, mean, lazy and annoying as hell on every other day of the week!
But the little touches like reading out the letter he wrote on his first day of work was a stark reminder that their job is a dangerous one, and the unexpected could happen at any time.
And when all the townspeople showed up to pay their respects too, I almost had to get the tissues out again!

For a split second, I was afraid he'd turn into Evil Jun and take advantage of HZ's imprisonment (& apparent responsibility for Uncle Hu's death) to get closer to Jiu'er.
But nope, our sweet WJ even finds excuses to visit HZ in prison & even give him a shave (despite saying he still can't forgive HZ) and work together to try and comfort Jiu'er - thank you for avoiding the cliches, writer-nim!
Had to LOL when Ke Ha was huffing and puffing hidden under the table ...π¬ Anything as long as the girl is happy, aw. Our boys have got their priorities in the right place!
I'm enjoying the budding bromance scenes. I want more! (esp since HZ's Qi bros aren't faring too well, plus HZ's just lost his Qian life coach mentor Uncle Hu, not to mention his close friend Keyunta). And I want Wen Ying to join the bros club!!
