Ikr?! Always look forward to seeing him balance those morally grey characters. He always gets me rooting for his salvation and wanting to chuck stuff at him, all at at the same time!
2 diamonds in the rough who are drawn to each other like magnets ... And one slimebag gaslighting boss who just…
Jie is a piece of work, totally. To make it even worse, he always tries to gaslight her in the nastiest possible way while painting himself as a good person, twisting everything against her.
He's like, "You understand I did it for your sake, don't you?" ... "I've taught you everything you know" ... "We've worked together for so long, why do you wanna leave now?" ... "I can't believe you could treat me this way!" Like she owes him something.
It's all about him, about the optics, and his one-upmanship with his rival Gao. Never mind that he's never put her interests ahead of his or given her credit where it's due. He makes me sick. Blech ๐คฎ
Luckily our LYA is a savvy and gutsy FL.
She doesn't like saying no and is quick to give people the benefit of the doubt, but she's also been scarred and disillusioned by people taking advantage of her (like her dad & Mgr Jie). So when they push her around one too many times, she can get into "tough" mode, put her foot down and say what needs to be said (like how she dealt with the disrespectful staff member at the marathon, and reminded Jie of his (many) broken promises).
She's also a great BS detector! She was jumping up & down waving the red flags about Jin Yi the Jerk/Bully, but did anyone listen to her?! NO!! They were too focused on "hot trends" and the "rising star" - even SCC's coach bowed to pressure and gave up on him, geez.
On the other hand, LYA appreciates how valuable it is to find someone like SCC. SSC is a diamond in the rough who's written off by everyone, but LYA is a woman with vision. Just like she chose the top 3 marathon winners, she can see SSC's potential. And she's got the grit to stand by her choices - and her people - even when no-one else is backing her up.
She admires SSC's no-nonsense attitude and tenacity, even in the face of unfair treatment. She knows what that's like, and can relate to it 100%. He's also the kind of guy who'll run a marathon (and even wear a HOT PINK tank top & BUNNY HAIRBAND ๐ฐ๐คฃ) to secretly help a sick cancer patient he barely knows. He's a lot more mature than the adults around him - or her.
It reminds me of Qin Feng's line in "Road Home": "How high a person can reach depends on chance and luck, but how far he can go depends on his character."
As for SCC, love how he was smitten with her at first sight, heh! ๐ (btw, Leo Wu is absolutely killing this role! Can't imagine the level of fitness required for this. WAY in Falling Into You was impressive enough, but this looks equally tough, if not even tougher!)
I'm very much rooting for this pair of underdogs. Everyone who underestimates and mistreats them needs to get their comeuppance - especially Jie!! I can't wait.
NBY is turning into my favorite drama 2023, with every episode. I just finished episode 10, and I wish they would…
Chen Zhe's a cutie! I'm so happy to see my loyal buddy Pei Ji Huai from Royal Rumors here!
If this were a K drama, the Young Space Tennis Club would be the ultimate vehicle for laundering illegally embezzled slush funds ๐ They've never properly invested in the club or incentivised the players to improve, let alone go professional. It's almost a leisure club at this point.
Knowing Jie, he probably didn't have innocent intentions for building this club, and it probably goes beyond just providing his son & rich friends with a playground ...
But yes, it's a given that Jie will be quick to claim credit for any success achieved by LYA (heck, he'll probably say she was acting under his instructions) - and equally sure, he'll try to make every step difficult for her. Grrr.
Let's put the Chinese censorship in mind that has been pretty strict lately so some level of intimate scenes are…
yeah, they could create a whole bunch of Season 2's and spin-offs with the amount of censored scenes on the cutting room floor (most recently thinking of forbidden love/unchained love ๐
Survived the weekend hiatus - and the sweetness & intensity of the last 2 eps!!Eps 12 & 13 really showed what…
On a different note: after LC took care of her all night, did GX misunderstand that he was taking his clothes off under the blanket? I swear she had such a look of anticipation on her face! And was she DISAPPOINTED when it turned out he just wanted to shower?! ๐
It's adorable that GX wants to wear a dress ๐ to meet his squad/family, but he was concerned that she'd freeze to death - I guess our boy has never heard of fleece tights?!

Yes, we got hit with the stark reality of frontline/emergency jobs, and the very different worlds they currently live in - maybe even further apart than when they were in high school together. After all, there's a lot they didn't actually know about each other back when they were dating the first time.
But now that they know they're each other's Number One priority, they're 100% trying to support and meet each other where they're at now, and resolute in their determination to face the future together. It's called "Road Home" after all - they'll always return to each other, no matter what ๐ซ
She doesn't cling to him to stay, or press him for explanations he can't give, just gets straight to the things they CAN do: "Let's get married". She doesn't hide away from the darker side of his profession (like when he was fighting the guys in the Qining parking lot), even when she literally worries herself sick over it.
In turn, he doesn't get any unnecessary complex about her making more money, or the advice/interference of her friends & family (all in all, they're both too ideal ๐ - I think JBR said the same in an interview).
I appreciated the show's small details, like setting her umbrella as a makeshift road sign โ to alert other drivers, when he was changing the tyre. Also how Sun Hao (the tent hotel owner) refused LC's payment, saying it was his wedding gift, and he'd only accept it if they called off the wedding! It's nice to see them doing things in unconventional ways, building alternative family ties (since their own families are pretty crummy) - it takes all kinds to make the world go round (and keep the country going)! In fact, I hope we can get more back story about his SWAT teammates and how they ended up there ...
OMG this is the most swoon worthy drama. Seriously Gui Xiao's father is telling her that she can't marry Lu Chen?…
Me too! Been hoping for a Capt Qin Ming Yu x Duan Rou couple since Ep 11! Fingers crossed๐ค
DR's not only a good buddy and colleague to GX, but she was also raised as a single parent child like Xiaonan, and would be able to understand QMY's situation well, since she's also worried about leaving her mum when she's away on business trips.
I also think he doesn't truly want to be a bad guy. Still the CP is going to be hurt when he finds out because…
I'm wondering just how awkward it'll be for her to explain to everyone that: * she's indeed strong as an ox * tough as nails * got kickass martial arts skills (although I'd totally be up for a HLL x Princess Jiamin duo to take out the bad guys in town)
Even if the CP could accept it (and he already halfway suspects anyway), how will she suddenly go from "gets easily knocked over by a gust of wind" > completely fine? Like, "I drank a potion and gained superpowers"??
Looks like weโre going to get some cute moments in the future; Seven teaches JBR how to use a cloth lol: https://weibo.com/7707587270/4881351712708323
oh i'm sorry, was that the point of the scene? I was too distracted by what he was (not) wearing ... ๐ anw, thanks for posting!

wonder if it helps to vote for each ep individually, as some ppl have suggested? That's what I've been doing at least.
Hopefully a HEA will convince ppl to give it another shot

Eps 12 & 13 really showed what a solid couple they are.

It was so cute how he kept looking at her and checking in with her when he was replying to the questions.
