Exactly! I've been trying to pinpoint the nostalgic vibe I've been getting from this show! It brings back some of the fun and magic of the pre-2015/16 dramas.
Maybe it's all those corny lines Shin Yu keeps dropping with a perfectly straight face 🤣🤣 Triple CHEESE to the MAX!!!
The visual effects and ost (especially Seo gi's "Destiny") also remind me a tiny bit of Hotel del Luna - it's that darn full moon!! 🌕😆 Can't wait for the epic aspects to unfold further - the past lives threads, intertwined fates etc.

Yep, I feel Kdramas typically have more of an adult feel - even their highschool & college dramas show the tough adult side of relationships more than their Cdramas counterparts (just look at the innocent college dorm life in Cdramas compared to the casual heavy drinking and sl**ping around shown in several Kdramas / web dramas - like, how can they be the same age?!!)
Maybe it's those deliberately daggy school uniform trakkies 😝 but for me, Cdramas capture the nostalgic and shy youthful moments of discovering what it feels like to like someone for the first time, and when small issues felt like the end of the world 🥰

He's not focused on himself & his past - he's more focused on Sang Zhi and what her needs are. But at the same time he makes sure to let her know what he's thinking & hoping - no self-abnegating unnecessary noble sacrifices here! He knows she makes him happy. He thinks he can make her happy too, and GOES for it!!!

same here! I started off on kdramas, but lately have found I'm more drawn to Cdramas which I find tend to have more endearing characters and storylines, more natural conversations, and funny/realistic relationships with their buddies/bffs and families.
although I still watch Kdramas (anything with Shin Hye Sun or Lee Jun Ho, for example!), I can't help feeing kdramas now are more forgettable - their formulaic & cliched elements tend to outweigh their high production values or their all-star casts. (ofc, i know on any given day there's heaps of handsome overbearing CEOs and helpless ditzy damsels in cdramas 😅, but even short length C web dramas are pretty solid nowadays!)
In short, Cdramas have rekindled the magic & sweet moments that originally drew me into watching dramas! Xianxias/wuxias especially have beautiful aesthetics that add another level of enjoyment.
And also - Kdramas don't have Liu Yuning on their OSTs!! 😜

Sure, she may not be the most versatile actress (though she played a pretty convincing villain in Snowdrop), and you probably won't see her headlining those epic sageuks etc, but then, most of those famous actresses don't have a fraction of her irresistible charm!
She's got so much to offer & is always a scene stealer in her cameos - she's so underrated and deserves more lead roles. Aways cheering for our YIN 💕

this is my first time seeing him in anything, so now i think i've gotta go check out his other works - purely for research purposes, of course!
