I haven't read the novel, but I suspect the idea is/was that Thee starts of as a bit of a rich, clueless, sheltered…
okay hear me out. 1. Thee is supposed to be annoying at the beginning. That is the entire point of a transformational character arc. If he started as a perfect, humble person, there would be nowhere for him to go. 2. The "slapstick" elements are a stylistic choice common in this genre, used to highlight the "clash of worlds" between Thee and Peach. However, calling it "emotionless" ignores the subtle acting cues. 3. Yes, the "Rich Boy meets Poor Boy" formula is a classic, but it’s a classic for a reason and it works. What makes Me and Thee stand out isn't the setup, but the chemistry and execution. To dismiss it simply because of the trope is like dismissing a mystery novel just because there’s a detective in it. It’s the nuance in how Thee and Peach influence each other that gives this series its heart.
PS. This specific style of Thai drama (often called "lakorn" style comedy) is a polarizing genre. For fans, the over-the-top humor makes the emotional moments feel more grounded and earned by contrast. His mother is literally a lakorn actress, are we not watching the same series?!
and why is everybody so serious about myd rating. This website is not for a technical critical review. If most people enjoyed it then I think they're not the problem.
(Anyone who read it can correct me if I'm wrong)
