I think they made it "easier" for the audience to work through (like our brains and emotions needed a rest period) after the break up. Well, if you wanted a different perspective re their suitors....... the law of attraction....The law of attraction is a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes....so CSS attracts the positive and well regarded....while LBY/HBY attracts the jealous, mean and vindictive.
