i will agree w everyone about the miscommunication. i feel like this is sort of meant to be an "equalizer", to show that parn has her own flaws that can make peem hurt. the show is better than say, the original hana yori dango (which i am watching the anime for rn, so maybe i'm a bit desensitized atm lol), where it truly tries to equalize both leads' actions when they are NOT comparable. but the show is trying to make us feel for peem but ultimately, judging by the preview, parn's actions are nowhere near as bad as peem's. i still don't think this show is very good, but at least it's entertaining. can't say i am very fond of parn, she just seems kind of boring.
Nothing can condone what Pheem said to Parn but she had so many opportunities to tell her the truth, it just looks…
right... cuz idgi... i think i'd understand if peem was a guy and they were in a het relationship, but peem is queer and she has a shameful past herself, that parn knows... so i don't see why she couldn't have told her beforehand that she only met w techin as angel bc he was gay. still could've left this plot point up bc parn did go back to paradise... sigh...
i feel a bit bad... i feel like i'm the only one not super into it. perhaps it's because i don't love the soulmate trope. i also just don't really like peem, i feel like the only reason i'm rooting for her at all is because i do feel sympathetic but, i don't really think she deserves it. for one, she's way too impulsive and doesn't seem to take anything that bulan says seriously... like ever. we are starting to see peem start to understand and agree to whatever bulan is saying, but idk... i know her being stubborn and whatnot is part of her character, but i just find it hard to care about what peem does at all, ever. i think it would be a bit better if bulan wasn't written to be like this perfect woman who loves peem so much and will do everything to ensure peem's safety and that peem starts to understand and love. we had a moment of her beginning to doubt it, but, it didn't last very long. overall it's a fine show, definitely better than some of the other stuff out rn, but it isn't my favourite currently airing, or even my second favourite... it does well in being "good for a GL", i think. it's still not bad, but, not something i find myself as into as everyone else seems to be.
i definitely prefer the sex scenes over the random shots of nothing for 1-2 minutes lol. while the plot is a bit more interesting (where was this in the last 3 episodes?), i still find myself rolling my eyes over some of it.
belle and jin are such a breath of fresh air, i can't help but feel vee and nana are written to have such a childish relationship that is meant to be cute... maybe it's cultural differences, but i don't find it very interesting lol. it's nice that belle is very understanding of jin, and their moments of betrayal are easily cleared up by a bit of communication.
i still hate how nana and vee are treating fahsai, i don't understand why nana is being so annoyed with her. she says it's her nicest way to go about it... but like, is it really necessary ??? she's ur friend ?????? clearly they're not very good friends but they still see each other as that before this whole vee thing... not my cup of tea.
watched ep 5 late bc this show is very low priority for me buuut i do think i'll at least see it to the end (masochism!!?!?!?). while this show provides a semblance of plot, it does feel pretty random, though the added father thing... i still find it a bit nuts how we're probably only going to get vee and jin mention FINALLY AGAIN next episode... and a bigger return to the whole march stuff. what was episodes 3-5 for, then??
one thing i hope they start to pay more attention to— why jeen even likes and works with nadear. i think she has a crush on her and wants to be with nadear(?), hence why she is trying to help chris get away from nadear even if its against what nadear wants. but she had never said anything to nadear herself until now. im glad that we finally have jeen actually starting to push back against nadear and being firm with her to her face, we don't even really know WHY nadear is so hellbent on chris yet aside from just something of a mental health obsession. i hope we get a bit more answers regarding this— luckily this show is 10 episodes long so we are only half way. icb i have to wait another week.
really starting to feel garn and mimie's chemistry, the first few episodes were a bit awkward but i can really really feel it now. they are doing great. a great episode, i love how we tend to have super cute scenes whenever sun is on screen, and something absolutely crazy when nadear is on loool.
the moment yi told tokyo that he wasn't going to die, i knew his end was nigh. i thought it would have a BIT more time before that but... i never imagined the funeral that showed up in the preview would be yi's JHGJKDHK i have to say, the pakkard and yi moment was just so... i can't say if it's well written yet, pakkard's arc, i think i'll have to wait for it, but the actors did an amazing job and the tension between them was very good. even though she was just a teenage girl and he was an adult man, i could feel that tension... it was very very good.
i saw on twitter i think that there's a possibility that pakkard's dad and tokyo's mom might be the original "romeo and juliet", thus starting this feud but also, might mean that tokyo and blue might get their happy ending...
i knew the last episode was too cute and too good... today's episode did NOT let up. we had like one cute moment and the rest was just shot after shot (foreshadowing...)
Just one think, is Nan actually stealing from the restaurant, and why is she threatening Chris, in the end of…
damn not the spoilers hJHGDK (joking) i'm guessing ur talking abt the episode from today um... i did not watch that (and still haven't) when i made this comment so i have no idea!
honestly i’m looooving this. the drama of it all. nadear’s actress is so good and i have to commend her because she is crying like every scene fdvsjhdjs im excited for her to lose her shit next episode.
i’m glad we’re also finally getting a call back to the first/second episode where we saw that nadear and sun are somehow swapped in chris’ memories. i’ll be interested to see just what nadear and jeen are up to, and if it’s smthn that they were doing via communication in trying to change chris’ brain or something else?
the show does great in putting us in chris’ shoes… but we are starting to get more information that isn’t something chris would know. sun’s memories are finally starting to give us an idea that chris and sun WERE together but we are unsure what the actual timeline surrounding this is, and if nadear was ever truly in the picture.
and by putting us in chris’ shoes i mean, we are lost and confused by what all of this means just like chris. we do get perspectives from other characters especially nadear, but they are usually things that im sure chris already knows or understands. sun has remained mostly a mystery for us and chris aside from the opening scene of them as high schoolers under the umbrella.
i like that this episode is truly exploring what this all means for sun. i've seen sun being called a green flag and i definitely do agree, but i like how we are starting to see a bit of pushback on sun's actions, even if i do find them fine. sun has been lying to chris this entire time, after all, and it's clear she has way more feelings for chris than chris does for sun. but we can see that while this bothers chris, it isn't enough to keep her away from sun, so i don't think chris would be super betrayed once she learns truth. nadear is such a heavy representation of the past, she is pushing VERY hard for chris to remember the past, but sun? she is like the past, present, and future, with how she is going about getting closer to chris.
it is now revealed why sun ends up in the hospital later (thanks to the intro preview), she has a brain tumour yay... T__T so i wonder if her philosophy changing (why she's lying to chris versus wanting to give chris up are conflicting philosophies) is because she knows that her health can only keep up w so much. it would make sense why she isn't working very much, too.
also i'm pretty sure sun doesn't tell chris is for a multitude of reasons, but i give her the past because an onslaught of information that could hurt chris' brain, which is something sun has brought up, could actually make chris' condition worse. we don't know the full extent as to what's been done to her by nadear and jeen, BUT her condition is a lot worse than sun's. and sun has a fricken brain tumour so i think thats saying something (or the author didn't think too much about this but we will see lol). so while i like that sun is experiencing some pushback, i do know it will be fine and chris will also be fine w it.
that being said: *rips off t-shirt* I LOVE CHRIS!! I LOVE GARN!!! garn is such a good actress. she does soooo well as chris. her emotional scenes and her scenes with nadear v. sun, chef's kiss. immaculate. i do really like sun and i want the best for her, but honestly at the end of it, i really just want chris to choose herself— as in, whatever is best for her. she has become whump queen of all of this, the fact she is experiencing such heavy abuse from nadear that we still don't even know the extent of AND nadear is only going to get worse... and even sun is keeping secrets from her... i love how they portray chris' stagnation but also just how much she wants to know more but also doesn't. the scene where she tells sun that she doesn't know what she wants to do about her memories... amazing...
this show gets better and better with every episode. each actress is pulling their WEIGHT. i love chris and garn does such a great job as her, you can tell she's a veteran. i want chris to choose herself, as in whatever is best for her, because i just love her sm! (and sun is best for her heh).
if you liked "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind", you might like this!
nit pick but omg!!! bring peem to the hospital hello LOL she might need her stomach pumped after all of those shots KSBSKAGJA AND LAY HER ON HER SIDE SO SHE DOESNT CHOKE ON HER TONGUE OR VOMIT!!! not to be a mom but lol. anyway this show isn’t very good but i’m kinda just watching to watch atp.
wow the filler to end all filler. usually i say these episodes should be 15 or so minutes shorter but this one could've easily been 20 or so minutes. so much shots of random nothing and they last for SOOO long. and we still have nothing for vee and jin!
honestly, i am preferring belle and jin's development... it's a bit more fun and cute. vee and nana just don't have much chemistry to me...
and honestly i don't even mind the jealousy plot idea, at least it's giving us SOMETHING. but nana is very immature about it, it would've been better if fahsai wasn't her best friend. i just can't imagine treating my best friend like that, especially since she doesn't even know i like vee.
i was absolutely bawling by the last few moments, even the happy scene in the festival, i just kept crying and crying. and then my JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR !??!?! at the preview, TOKYO'S HAND ON BLUE'S THIGH??? THE SCENE IN THE KARAOKE??!?!??!?! HELLOOOO????
i don't think this will be the last of tong... i think tong is supposed to be both rosalia (romeo's lover before he meets juliet) AND paris (the man trying to get juliet to marry him). and the way tokyo responded to his "threat" makes me think he might try again to get them to split... i totally loved how tokyo went about it, she is a badass, but i think she may have also re-affirmed the idea in his head that she is dangerous and her family is dangerous. i wouldn't mind being proven wrong but...
tokyo's friends, zai and pupe, aren't in the clear for me just yet. however, i do like how we are expanding them a bit more. zai's dreams, her failures, and even that pupe seemed to understand tokyo the most in episode 2. however i wonder if yi received that photo because of zai... zai might feel like she has nowhere to go now, so throwing tokyo under the bus might be her ticket to a future and achieving her dreams. incredibly sad :///
also the scene where tokyo suggests they do long distance and then blue isn't able to respond... UGHHHH this was exactly the idea i had in mind too. they're so doomed. god. even if their families weren't super dangerous to each other, tokyo's controlling dad might doom them too... ugh.... I LOVE THEM SO MUCH BUT I KNOW ITS NOT GONNA END WELL (and i kinda hope it doesn't lol...)
this series is SO GOOD! it gets better with every episode! i love how much we get to see of tokyo and blue's relationship development BUT ALSO how awful the predicament they're in. truly doomed by the narrative, that they are romeo and juliet, just like romeo and juliet are doomed by the fact that the show begins by telling us it is a tragedy— tokyo and blue are doomed by the fact it is a romeo and juliet retelling. with each episode, i feel the tragedy in each moment.
garn's acting during chris' breakdowns also i kinda love nadear LOL. i definitely do not want good things to happen for her in the sense she gets with chris, but idk, i love seeing how she manipulates things and how things are turning out. it's so intriguing. i wanna smack her but i am also sitting here w popcorn to see what she does next LOL. i find it especially heartbreaking how abusive she is of chris. even if it's not totally brought up, she has completely isolated and made chris in her control. chris has no parents anymore, and this is now confirmed. if chris wanted to leave, before meeting sun, she had nowhere to go. this really brings up this kind of abuse that happens to those who become disabled, and how easy it is for nadear to take control of chris' life. i love nadear as a character, but don't get me wrong, i find her actions deplorable LOL. luckily this is fiction! the actress— piglet?— does an amazing job at making me hate nadear but also wanna see her do more crazy stuff lol.
wow the acting in this is getting better. i was iffy about it at the start but it's become really good, even chris and sun's scenes, that i found boring in the first episode, are really good. this has probably become one of my favourites currently airing rn.
i don't really care about romanticization and glorification and all that, it's fiction so it's whatever, i think it's fine to have these things and have them be hot or romantic later on. i could really care less. i think the bigger issue is just how the scene where SA is being portrayed and is actually looked down on is very very similar to the other scene where it's not looked down on. we are supposed to believe that peem and parn have feelings for each other from the beach, but i honestly didn't get that at all. it was sort of sweet but i wish they lingered on the beach some more, had the girls spend more time together so i could actually feel why parn is even giving a crap about peem at all. if i was parn i would've left her bum in that car. she's rich she can handle herself, whatever! but we are led to believe that parn has feelings for peem so she is willing to help her. i think my biggest issue is just that parn is a big pushover. she is given her moments where she stands up for herself, but it's inconsistent, where the show only decides to do it whenever it wants to so it can either make her seem like a BAMF but then whenever we want to show that peem is overbearing or make a hot scene, suddenly parn is a whimpering cowering girl who has to bend to peem's will. i think it would go over a lot better if parn stood up to peem a lot more, or if we had much more time to see parn and peem actually develop feelings for each other. but instead we are here, where we have the actress' IRL history and their beauty being load-bearing for the character's romantic development. the last scene for ep 2 was also pretty triggering, they shouldn't have done it this way. handled it very poorly. again i don't mind them wanting to do this sort of thing, but there needs to be more warning bc i was really upset by it.
belle and jin are such a breath of fresh air, i can't help but feel vee and nana are written to have such a childish relationship that is meant to be cute... maybe it's cultural differences, but i don't find it very interesting lol. it's nice that belle is very understanding of jin, and their moments of betrayal are easily cleared up by a bit of communication.
