I think they gave us hints even earlier, when the fortunate teller told that they are like mountain and river. But I also do feel that the show has ended on a hopeful note and that she will be back.
I am personally fine with the end of the second couple. It would be nice to see more happy things though. I expected till the end to see a big family with children running around, heh... I also thought that a war demon and Curly would be a nice couple. They could show us Xia being happy and in love and one of the weapon spirits going back to the woman he loves. That all would be more fulfilling. But all in all it was a good watch. This is certainly my favourite character of ML so far.
