I'm talking about what happened in Once Promised. I can't remember if it was explained in LYF. But it was the king who brought XY to see her mother and father. She's just barely alive and she and Qi Yo are just waiting for XY to see them.

The king is generally a good person. However, fighting for a throne and being a king, he has to harden himself and make some decisions that he needs to do even if he doesn't want to. Much like the case for CX. From the drama, XY's mothers and him were living together alright although there is no love on A Heng's side. But her decision to divorce the king is because of his refusal to help her brother (CX's father) when he was stuck in the battlefield. This lead to CX's fathers death. A Heng lost her trust and proceeded to divorcing him. I'm not sure how accurate this is to the novel.

Yes, it was so heartbreaking. Given that she would have put CX's interest first over anything because that's how much she trusts and loves him even though it's not the kind of love he felt for her.

XL made her realize. It was their last meeting and also the time when XL was wrapping things up for her, making sure she got everything she needs before he leaves her for good. And the confrontation between XY and CX is one of the best scenes in the novel I am so looking forward to it in the drama.

Yes. From my understanding, he could have waken her up sooner but he didn't want to just yet. That 37 years under the sea was the only time he could have her all to himself. Once she wakes up he knew he has to let her go back to her life and he to his responsibilities. My heart broke for him in the following chapters as he will proceed to reject all the time XY will show a little of her feelings to him.

Yes, it's XL's sadness.

If I remember right from the novel, Chi Yun did not originate from any of the kingdoms. Like Xiang Liu in LYF. Chi Yun was found by the former emperor of Gao Xing in a forest (he was a demon). The emperor sort of adopted him that is why Chi Yun chose to lead their army.

An excerpt from the novel:
“The pain in my heart, do you feel it?” Xiao Yao’s face turned red, not clear if it was over embarrassment or frustration. The reason the heart was tucked deep inside the body was so that people’s feelings, whether it was happiness or sorrow, would remain concealed. But right now her heart felt like it was stark naked before Xiang Liu, like she was stripped naked before him to observe.

Xiang Liu softly chuckled “If you’re afraid I will feel everything, then stop tormenting yourself. If your heart doesn’t hurt, then I’ll be better off as well.”

Xiao Yao heard the last thing he said and immediately perked up “If my body hurts 9/10th, then you hurt 1/10th. But if my heart hurts, is it how much I feel you feel?”

Xiang Liu honestly said “Yes! If your heart hurts how much is how my heart hurts how much. What of it? Are you planning to use that to reckon with me?”

Xiao Yao was silent. He was right! She could inflict bodily pain on herself, but she couldn’t make happiness or sadness.

Xiang Liu suddenly said “I’m a killer for hire sometimes.”

Xiao Yao looked quizzically at him and he said slowly “If you pay, I can kill Fang Feng Yi Yang and her child for you.”

Xiao Yao smiled wanly “That is like the worst idea ever!”

Xiang Liu said in a half sincere half joking way “Then you stop giving yourself a heartache in the future. If you keep causing trouble for me, maybe I’ll decide to kill you!”

Xiao Yao pouted “I didn’t force you to take the voodoo bug into your body years ago.”

“Years ago, I knew you were useless and would often get injured. But I didn’t know you were this foolish and couldn’t even protect your own heart.”

Xiao Yao opened her mouth like she wanted to argue back but said nothing. She dejectedly lowered her head like a wilted sunflower.

Omg this is so true. The main reason why I fell so in love with the story is because of all the what ifs between XL and XY. I'm happy XY ended up with Jing as even XL roots for him. But XL's unconditional love will be the one I will always remember as a reader.

To be fair, it was his choice. XY gave him a chance which he turned down.

No, he never expected for them to be together because of his responsibility as the general of the rebel army. If anything he was the one who was adamant of not showing his feelings/disregarding XY' feelings especially when she lets it slip away that she's falling for him

Oh, your heart will break some more for XL as the story goes on. What could have been.

XL and XY are the star crossed lovers in this story.

Had XL told XY of his feelings, she would have chosen to be with him. XY bared her feelings a few rare times to XL but he always dismissed it and pretended he doesn't care.

She definitely knows it. Just can't remember exactly if she was aware right from the start or after a few meetings.

IKR. He knew from the start that he can't give her what she wants so instead he helped her achieve it. Out of the three, his love is truly the unconditional one. I am forever in awe of his character.

The Gao Xing king is not XY's real father. He knew perfectly well that she is not his biological daughter but she raised her and loved like one. Lost You Forever is the second book to Once Promised which is the story of XY's parents. She will meet him eventually in "spirit" when she learns the truth.

Oh wait, I went back to the novel and there's some mistake. The thing XL put in the doll was the crystal ball that XY gave to him in the past but he made some changes to it. You see, one of the rare moments XY let XL know of her feelings was when she gave him a crystal ball with a mermaid with a hand stretched towards a man that is like in a different world. So it's like her asking XL to be with her even though she knew that XL is like in a different world from her. This happened before of XY's supposed marriage with Feng Long. XL never answered this message from XY. But here is his answer. He added a man to the crystal ball which was now holding the mermaid's hand but the other man is still silently watching from the side. XL added the other man that is representing Jing. And he left this words:
The ability to take care of yourself, someone to rely on, a place to go – wishing you a lifetime of worry free happiness!
From the start, XL knew they will never have a future together so instead he helped her to be with Jing, the man she can rely on.

When she received the doll it was the final chapter. But she brought it with her when they left although Jing mentioned that the wood it was made of was practically indestructible so I guess we'll never know

I agree. XL never once let slip his feelings for her. That is why she focused on Jing. With Jing constantly saying his love to her. I'm happy how it ended for her and Jing but I will always feel sad for XL and think how it would have been if XL wasn't tied to Shengnong army. And of course, I can never fault XL's loyalty to his adoptive father.

I remember something about XL killing Xuan's men. I'm not sure if this is that part or if it's just my imagination (haha). You got me curious too I think i'll find it in the novel
