for those who read the novel spoil me plsss... is it a sad or good ending.
The synopsis is slightly incorrect - Oriental Odyssey is an original screenplay first written by Miao Juan to be made into C-drama. When Huace Media couldn't made the drama in 2015 as intended, she began to publish a novelized version of her screenplay on the web since 2016. When Huace Media finally made this drama in 2017, her novel was still uncompleted. As of October 18, 2018 the last novel entry is middle of Chapter 13. So you have to wait until the last episode of drama is released to know the ending.
Filming began on October 17 2018 under the direction of Ching Siu Tung, the famous action director of the Chinese Ghost Story movie series and Dragon Inn (1992).

@lenje: No sure really until this drama is released ;) In the book this character is dark skinned too but of the mythical 'Kunlun' people and spoke fluent Chinese (they might just dubbed him in the final version).

@lenje: The gentleman is a Golden Globe and two time Oscar nominee, actor Djimon Hounsou :D Djimon is playing Ge Lao. Except for his ethnicity, the screen character appears to be the same as the book: a human trafficker.
Interesting comment by Li Yitong (Wan Mei) on the possibility of a BR Season 2:
Background :- In a interview regarding her drama roles including BR published on Oct 15, 2018, Li Yitong was given a number of questions submitted by fans to be asked by the interviewer at the end.
The top fan question was Q: Will there be a 2nd season for Bloody Romance or (at least) a special/side story(*)? (*) usually 2nd option will be in the form a web-movie.
Her answer is a bit curious and left us wondering: A: Currently, I am not too sure. Maybe a break away/spin-off from the original story.
I have copied the original source text below, in case anyone want to analyze or has other thoughts on what she said ;)
This sounds really good! After BR I think it can be a quite the hit and miss for "newbie" actors ... do you know…
@Nayto: I don't think so, but in April 2018, this author started writing a new novel titled 'A Pillow of Mountain and River' which is both a prequel and sequel to this novel with the same cast of characters. As of October 13, she has published 111 new chapters. Quite possibly this is done after she sold this novel for drama adaptation - making a future 2nd season possible. This is something the (different) author of Bloody Romance should consider :p
This Chinese name of the novel and drama is 'He Li Huating' or Cranes Cries Over Huating. The title itself is a variation of the Chinese idiom 'Huating He Li' recorded in Volume 54 of 'Book of Jin' compiled during early Tang dynasty of a historical event that occured during Jin Dynasty in 3rd century AD.
The historical settings of the novel itself is a fictional alternate China based on the Song dynasty (3rd and later editions of the novel). While written in vernacular Chinese, HLHT has a prose style reminiscent of the classic Dream of a Red Chamber and a large vocabulary - to the extent that some native Chinese readers has relative difficulty in understanding passages of text they have read.
The main plots in HLHT involve Xiao Ding Quan, a philosopher-prince's relationships and struggles with his father and royal brothers, and the romance between Ding Quan and his maid Gu Ah Bao. The dramatic character of Ding Quan is summarized by Ah Bao in the novel thus: 'Cautious and timid in small things, bold and courageous in great things'
Slightly related especially if anyone here dream of being the next movie version of Yang Guo or Xiaolongnu :) https://cfensi.wordpress.com/2018/10/11/casting-call-tsui-harks-condor-heroes-trilogy Yes, it is legit - this is being circulated through many different channels. You don't even need any experience since training will be provided for free if you are selected.

@Lara: Are you serious - have you consider the analogy of why one don't eat their daily three meals at the same time at one go? Why do you ask if you continue to doubt me?
Is the air date correct? I didn't see any info that it will air so soon anywhere else.
I created this entry more than 9 months ago, it contained information way ahead of most sites then. The Oct 24th date was earliest possible broadcast date given. As an Tencent 'exclusive premiere' EverNight cannot be aired while the current one https://kisskh.at/18756-ruyis-royal-love-in-the-palace (which itself was pushed back several times) hasn't completed its run.
Both Chang An and Wan Mei are people who received little love but give a lot of love back to others even before…
@Lullina03: Either he has fallen in love already (knowing or unknowingly) or at least to him, she is like family member to him. Up to this point, this is the only group of people he is willing to give his life for without thinking. PS: Initially Chang An is not very good in expressing love verbally and Wan Mei's initial greatest fear is betrayal by those she trusted (eg father in Ep. 1). That was the subtext of Wan Mei insisting that Chang An never forsake her on the swing and his inability then to give a straight answer.
Who will falling in love first, chang an or wan mei?
Both Chang An and Wan Mei are people who received little love but give a lot of love back to others even before meeting each other. So when they met, it was just a matter of time before they realized they are meant for one other. So it doesn't really matter when they realized they have fallen in love with the other ;)
Do you mean the instrumental sequence with flute music in the middle of extended (5 minutes) trailer? It is part…

The soundtrack on the trailer 1 is "Intimidation" by Mark Petrie. It is licensed (very affordable price) by the producers as a placeholder music for the trailer. Mark Petrie is of course famous for the trailer music he created exclusively for Hollywood blockbusters including the recent Avengers: Infinity War.
