It kind of blew my mind when I realized this is by the same director/screenwriter who did The Novelist... Now it makes COMPLETE sense why I love it so much.
smooth production is important for every story.. see NLMG has all ingredients but still things don't flow smoothly..Additionally,…
Sure I just meant it might be considered less important compared to things like decent acting and a decent story. And I know it's a budget issue but this show really made me appreciate how nice it is when things just flow.
One thing I REALLY appreciate about this show is how smooth the production is.
It might seem insignificant but it really means so much for my overall enjoyment that the editing, soundtrack and little things like that is on point. It makes it a joy to watch and is just super refreshing. Maybe it's partly because I've been fed up with the quality of other shows I've been watching lately lol.
adding to the negativity.. the joke is, the source material actually had some really good content to be adapted…
@dizzyjaze Oh interesting. Personally I think it has something to do with both. When a scene sometimes feels lackluster even with Boun and Prem's great chemistry, or when they have a tendency to act slightly overdramatic at times (at least for my taste), I blame that on a bad call by the director. But I'm biased too because I'm not a fan of New in general from the works I've seen.

I agree with everything you said. Sadly. New, the director, has a "gift" of taking a scene that actually sounds great on paper and then somehow ruining it by having it completely lack intimacy and depth. Obviously there were some nice stand-alone scenes too, not everything was a mess. But as much as I adore Boun and Prem (and that's a lot), their chemistry wasn't enough to make this series enjoyable to me...
We can only imagine what this show could have been like with a different director.
I usually don't shy away from dropping shows left and right but this one hurts.
I've tried to force myself to watch this until the end because I have been religiously waiting for it ever since the day it was first announced. But I just can't get any further than episode 9 and I stopped enjoying it after episode 5. Too many repititions, too many pointless flashbacks, too many missed opportunities. Not a single mention of Win's bisexuality, really? No therapy for Team about his trauma? I miss authenticity. I miss feeling the director truly cares about the characters. I miss chemistry in the ensemble cast as a whole.
I'm so sad it came to this. Maybe I'll pick it up again one day. For now, my interest is gone. Boun and Prem deserved better material to work with and a better production. Most of all, they deserved better directing. It's obvious they have both grown as actors, especially Boun, but they simply weren't given enough chances to properly show it off without the scene falling flat for whatever reason - lazy dialogue, lack of intention, becoming overly dramatic thus ineffective, etc. What a shame.
~Unpopular opinionI can get past the miscommunication plot, the side couples, the slow pace and the repetitive…
Omg this is one of my biggest issues with the show. In UWMA I found it mostly endearing but now I realize it only worked when Team was a supporting character. For a main character, it's not cute - just annoying.
Have you tried My school president? I was worried it will be cringy but its so damn good (and every episode has…
I'm intrigued, I will probably check it out. I actually wasn't a fan of Bad Buddy (controversial, I know!). Usually it's not logical what shows I like at all, it's just about whether I vibe with it or not.
It just hit me how empty my life will be once this show ends lol. Not because I think it's amazing or anything but because I've had it to look forward to for so long. For the first time in years I don't really have any BL I'm looking forward to at all. I've got some stuff on my list to check out but I'm not excited about anything.
The past few years have had SO much good stuff and there seems to be nothing upcoming that has potential to be as good.
What are some shows you are excited for?? I could really use some inspiration.
I'm so sorry but when I first saw the announcement of this I couldn't stop giggling. The fact that you'd see a completely ridiculous concept that Japan managed to make work against ALL odds (like 1 in a 10000 chance) and think Oh hell, I'll give it a shot too! is just too funny. I love the original Cherry Magic but it takes a certain kind of GENIUS directing and charisma of the cast to pull that plot off. (No hate intended!)
