I'm glad this year is more varied. I would like to see all the dramas i didn't watch, and some of them won....…
Yeah I didn't vote on that category since I was confused about the parameters of that category. Up to what point would a actor be considered up and coming? I thought maybe Breakthrough Star of the Year would be a clearer category to vote on
I'm on ep 3 and liking it. KudoKan hasn't disappointed me yet. His castings are always on point as well. Nagase Tomoya is especially perfect in this role which makes it even funnier that the criminals would rather go to jail than be free and have him exclusively.
Greasy old ass men being overly familiar with women half their age is a bloody plaque. They're like a species all on their own and you can find them in different habitats like your family, workplace and neighborhood. Those two uncles from Symphonic are the perfect example of their typical modus operandi

Great list! I've seen most of them while the rest are on my watch list while I find the right mood since these are not the type of films to watch at any given free time otherwise I wouldn't appreciate them to the fullest.
Also I'm waiting for some of them to appear on TV so I can watch with a polish reader instead to subs. Just yesterday there were two Zhang Yimou films on one channel including HOFD. Lucky me
I'm still on ep 5 but I have to say this drama pleasantly surprised me. At first I was expecting from it was just silliness but when you least expect it, Tamiou has some profound and meaningful messages to convey when it comes to politics vs reality. Maybe it's because I study IR that I find this most interesting and the reason that I like Sho so much. Even though his outlook is very simple and naïve, him living as an average student makes him understand the effects of political decisions more than the big wig politicians who are responsible for it (like knowing the minimum wage and the cost of living)
Japan really does a good job at making school dramas with a variety of genres like friendship, romance, slice of life, dark, heartwarming, comedies on crack etc.
While watching Nobuta I was afraid it was going to turn into some melodramatic love triangle mess but it was perfect from start to finish.
Other than previously mentioned classics I also loved Stand Up!! and My Boss My Hero.
Out of the recent ones I liked Gakkou no Kaidan
Leo Ieiri's song is just lovely, it's always stuck in my head after every episode. I think I like it even more than the one for N no tameni
I also think Sota's performance improved here but when he's acting surprised, he looks like a pug then and so, in these serious scenes I end up laughing.
Despite many clichés in this drama, I'm glad Ruiko wasn't some jealous murderous second female lead or something I always hate that
Confessions was an emotional roller-coaster, I was so exhausted after watching it. And for weeks every time I bought milk I was reminded of it. It was simply amazing and it's not even my favourite from the director.
A drama adaptation that impressed me recently was Karamazov no Kyodai. From the acting to music to the overall atmosphere, even though I was familiar with the novel, it still had me at the edge of my seat.
he's certainly good looking but I hope he improves his acting so I can fully enjoy watching him. Maybe if he's agency calmed down a little and scored him more supporting gigs in more serious roles instead trying to create a shojo prince... They're pushing him everywhere and nobody likes a gori oshi so he's getting hate from netz
