Rewatched ep 16 w subs and it definitely hurts. I didn’t cry that much in ep 16 and only teared at some scenes. But upon the second watch, fully aware of their end, ep 16 is truly bittersweet. I really feel for deokim

The flowers in his room have always represented his affections for deokim. They have been in full bloom since his days as a crown prince. Usually the flowers are in full bloom but this time, there were only four flowers left in bloom, and the last and fourth flower was the only one withering.
In Chinese superstition, 4 (四, si) is a number of bad luck because it sounds like the word death (死, si). Based on Google, korea too has this same superstition as 4 (四, 사, sa) and death (死,사, sa) also sound similar.
So to me, the flowers signifies his death, and the fact that there are flowers remaining means his affections for her still remain even in his death. 😢

Ep 9? Not even a happy ending but a fairy tale ending? Tbh I think you are better off not watching it. It’s definitely not a fairy tale sugar romcom. It gets dark quite fast even if the first few ep felt like a rom com. It’s not a fairy tale love story. their journey is arduous and bittersweet. It’s definitely a good show but not necessarily a happy one
It’s 3am and I just finished it. Wow… that was long. Needless to say I cried for 2h straight. Poignant and bittersweet. Definitely my favourite of all time. Might write a review but now I feel drained. I don’t want to mark this as complete since I want this in my watchlist forever 😢
