Ep. 10: Aaaaaaaiiiiiigggggoooooooooo! This romance with two mature adults in the process of healing is EVERYTHING. I'm not the only one with moist eyes, right?
My heart is actually fluttering. What a wonderful way to start the week!
also JJ may be an asshole, but he looks hot af in those suits
Those suits. Yesss. The actor Hwang Chan-sung played a much less toxic CEO in Netflix's MY HOLO LOVE (2020). His SML character pretty much lives in series of beautiful suits too. While his character was a bit sketchy, he's not as messed up as JJ, despite having an absolutely monstrous father. He even gets a happy ending!
Kenshi Yonezu's Pale Blue, official theme song of this drama is now available on various streaming platforms. So…
Thanks very much for sharing the link! The song illustrates a concept discussed in the PBS Digital SOUND FIELD episode: WHAT IS THE SPOTIFY SOUND? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnfTaqGFW8M
The episode gives some historical context to how recording technology has always influenced how music was written and performed. Spotify's business model ONLY pays musicians for music played for at least 30 SECONDS! While PALE BLUE runs longer than the average pop song, it exemplifies the trend of placing the HOOK earlier in the song.
That crazy addictive hook GRABS you by your ears from the very first measure! And you don't hear it again until 1:58. Very seductive!
What does the main character shoots to create that ghost barrier?
The SYHH Special calls it a "salt bomb gun." The production designers modified a real nail gun to be lighter than usual—thought Jang Na Ra said it still felt heavy.
Just finished the 1-hr SPECIAL. The first half recapped the entire series with interviews with the major characters. The second half explored cast synergy (especially between the ML and FL), cinematography, special effects, sound design, and special guest actors. I was disappointed that the special did NOT highlight the incredible score—even as part of “sound design.”

Yes! That awkward PPL! It's not always bad—after all, we're all surrounded by branded stuff. I fully expect…
Did you see BE MELODRAMATIC? Since the characters work in the entertainment business, they dealt with PPL in the funniest of ways. They did PPL by complaining about or struggling with PPL.
For example, one of the characters' jobs is to squeeze in PPL into dramas. She shows up on the set of an action thriller and recommends artfully placing snack containers around a dead body.
It was so well done that PPL felt like finding Easter eggs.
This was very good it delivered just what i wanted. The acting especially was quite good. I liked the female lead's…
Yes! That awkward PPL! It's not always bad—after all, we're all surrounded by branded stuff. I fully expect kdrama characters to visit at least one friend chicken chain restaurant and to vacuum with a Dyson. My favorite PPL was the clothing worn by the show's leads. Ji-ah wore a never ending collection of black clothing and boots, In-bum loved his fashion and Hwa-jung is *always* dripping. The women's earlobes were always adorned with an assortment of earrings and cuffs. Ji-ah's lip color and black fingernails were probably promoted too.
But, lord, the PPL had its cringey moments. The first awkward PPL I remember was the underwear-in-a-can Ji Cheol's girl friend mailed him. Is something a straight man really would re-gift to his best friend? I burst out laughing at the YUMMY snack the gang shared towards the end of Ep. 14. The best worst offender was the anti-wrinkle product Hwa-jung suddenly started dabbing on her neck and face in Ep. 16. How I laughed when Hwa-jung gifting it to the eternally baby-faced Jang Na-ra!
The show is a real gem with an unconventional love story at its core. The structure is a little different too. * 13 30-min. episodes * 3 episodes broadcast each Mon. Tues. Wed * next week is Ep. 10, 11, 12
I'd be surprised if you don't love it by the third episode.
I've been thinking bout FL character for some time and I finally could understand her better in the last couple…
Well said! The neighbors aren't the only people overcoming their biases. As a viewer, I'm also challenging my assumptions. Oh Yeon-Seo is doing a great job playing such a prickly, complex character!
Jang Nara sang an OST for this right? Did i missed it in the series or it wasnt played?
I think you're right; I don't recall hearing the song in the show either. DAYDREAM is so light and poppy; where did they put this?
Jang Na Ra's song was published to YouTube and Spotify on May 12. @I AM SHOOKETH was the first to post the link on MDL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXXfDvV3tEs. That's around the time Ep. 8-9 aired.
The first half of Ep. 9 was hard to watch but it was deeply rewarding to see more people rallying around Min Kyung. I'm also enjoying the growing friendship between Super Part-timer Su Hyun and her unnie, Samantha.
"Enemies to lovers" is one of my favorite tropes and MAD FOR YOU is one of the best examples I've ever seen. This show is plutonium—so much impact in this beautiful, masterful little show!
Finished in one sitting and found it to be a competent, light and amusing rom-com. Sometimes you just need candy and this suits. A few of the barbs even made me laugh out loud. The OTP chemistry was nice and felt organic. ML's description isn't quite right. He's actually pretty astute about getting close to the FL and he's a good talker.
The SML is the weakest link. To call him wooden feels like overpraise. The show would've been perfectly fine without him.
