it's not as bad as some others. Double helix comes to mind
Did you find the dubbing in Double Helix bad? It seemed fine to me. Sammy's Children's Day was the worst, especially because it was Cantonese dubbing and the actors were speaking Mandarin and the sync was just bad.
It's gonna get really dark and toxic in the later episodes, brace yourself! I think for a lot of people this show…
It just annoys me that people who are not comfortable watching dark and toxic storylines go into this show expectating a soft fluffy story and then get offended when it's not. This is a show that has been marketed as a very dark and toxic story since the very first trailer. And it delivered what it promised.
Why do people hate this drama so much? I’ve watched 3 episodes and I think it’s okay—it’s a solid drama…
It's gonna get really dark and toxic in the later episodes, brace yourself! I think for a lot of people this show is just too dark and toxic and feels too real with the harsh homophohic families. I honestly loved it, it's one of my favorite bls this year. I enjoy dark romance shows like this because I like complex layered storylines with morally gray characters but I can understand why some one else would feel uncomfortable watching a show like this.
I tried...I really really tried...but I just couldn't get past the awful dubbing.
The awful dubbing is common across all Chinese shows since they prefer to use the dubbed voice instead of the actor's actual voice. It used to bother me a lot too initially but now I've become used to it.
I really liked the concept of a story within a story. It's such a fresh and unique concept. I don't usually like the same soft fluffy bls with a plain plot. Even though I was starting to get bored of Gao Zhun and Fang Chi's story initially and didn't like the fact that they were getting more screen time than the actual people Zhang Zhun and Zhen Xin, I still kept watching because I really loved the innovative concept. Now by episode 11, I'm absolutely loving it. It's probably one of my favourite bls this year. It comes under dark romance, with themes of sexual assault and manipulation included. So, as a dark romance fan who enjoys complicated, layered and toxic storylines, this is right up my alley. But I can completely understand why someone else wouldn't like it or would feel uncomfortable watching it. The dubbing is a common issue in Chinese shows since they prefer to used dubbed voice instead of the actor's actual voice and they don't always sync. It used to bother me a lot too initially but now I've become used to it. Other than To My Shore and Double Helix, I noticed the poor production in most other Chinese bls as well, they look and feel low budget, but I honestly don't mind it as long as the story is engaging and the acting is good. To me, this is one of their charms, even with limited budget, they make really good stories.
But he still didn't dump Zhen Xin for her or choose to continue the relationship with his ex girlfriend. That's…
So it's manipulation hidden under the sweetness, that's so sad! I was thinking atleast she didn't give any overwhelming reaction to all of it unlike Yi Chen's parents, they were so openly harsh to him right until their last breaths, even ready to disown him!
Don't even compare them lmao. Zhun was very clear to everyone about his love for zhen xin and he didn't break…
I don't think anyone would want to accept sex without consent. The difference is Lu Feng is just more physically aggressive, there's no way Yi Chen could possibly overpower him at that moment? He forgave him for all those things and went back to him later, that's another thing, it's complicated to understand his mindset. But it's wrong to say he willingly accepted all that was done to him. Zhang Zhun will also forgive Zhen Xin and go back to him, doesn't mean he also accepted the sex without consent.
Chinese BLs have been on a roll since last year, and it's amazing that we get to live through this era. I was in such a BL slump until Revenged Love dropped. It genuinely felt like something in me came back to life. Revenged Love, To My Shore, Kill to Love, Sammy's Children's Day, Double Helix, Deep In, and so many more amazing shows... and they just keep coming one after another. I don't think I've been this excited in a really long time.
Toxic Bls : To My Shore, Double Helix, Kill To Love, Revenged Love, Secret Relationships, Thundercloud Rainstorm,…
Acting is great, first half of the plot was good, second half not as much. Main lead was toxic in the first half but suddenly turned into a green forest in the second half with no plot explanation, found it a bit odd. But overall a good watch.
is thr a good toxic drama suggestion - intense romance - toxic or not - intense, angsty, passionate..straight,…
Toxic Bls : To My Shore, Double Helix, Kill To Love, Revenged Love, Secret Relationships, Thundercloud Rainstorm, The Prosecutor's Proposal, My Personal Weatherman
To My Shore and Double Helix are the closest to Don't Be Too Emotional and also they're most toxic ones in the list and come with trigger warnings.
