I really appreciated that sweet hug at the end! This flashback ep... who can blame Shin for being that hung up on Neo now? Neo came on to him pretty much the moment they met and Shin didn't stand a chance. I loved all of their cute scenes, but I didn't see any reason why they would later pretend they don't know each other to everyone else? Overall, Neo is a chaotic incubus who seems to have no idea what he really wants and this will probably keep everything in disarray the rest of the series. Neo/Shin still have 8x the chemistry of Neo/Miw IMO. Neo & Miw don't have that hot "we're always bickering but our chemistry is amazing" feel, more like, "we bicker a lot but when there's nothing else to do we can screw" feel.
This is beautifully done. It perfectly captures the wild craziness and delirium of a whirlwind romance. Some definite NSFW scenes, but they don't diminish the growing chemistry and addiction of the couple. That ending... too real!
This was outrageously funny. There was pretty much no moment I didn't enjoy. I had to cover my mouth to keep from shrieking with laughter. Definitely some NSFW scenes, but it is about adult comic books. Sometimes when animation is added it's tacky, but it was pretty well done. Definitely going on my fave list with a high rewatch value.
I started watching this on YT thinking it was another movie. I'm not big on family romance movies, and I would have moved on, but the leads really sold it within the first 5 minutes. Their chemistry was great, and for more than an hour I couldn't look away because I needed them to reconcile. The ML is also really easy on the eyes! But I had to lower my rating a little because the music in the last 15 minutes made me feel like I was watching an entirely different movie. The mood had been pretty serious and sober up to that point, and there really wasn't a transition into "suddenly fun family movie" mode. This would have went on my fave list if they'd just wrapped it up with a solid reconciliation without changing the tone.
The early episodes were fun, but towards the end... this show is just like its title: it gets cloyingly sweet at the bottom. The FL's character has gotten more childlike after she picked up some experience, not less. The innocence is pushed too hard. There's a fine line between doe-eyed innocence and a vacant stare. She no longer looks shy, just a little slow on the uptake. And being targeted by literally everyone... (sigh).
Part of me is rooting for Ki because he's more mature and cute in his own way, and there's definitely a spark between him and Kod. But I think her heart is with Ji, poor thing, and Ki definitely isn't over his ex. But if these couples swap I can't see any way this family's reputation won't be a permanent mess, lol.
Another week gone.. how are we feeling?! I was hoping Mae would be the moral conscience for Tur, but...? I also wanted to scream when Shin came back and saw Neo/Miw. I want to see this next flashback episode, but I'm also bracing for disappointment (based on the previews) if it means that almost every meaningful romantic interaction between Neo & Shin will be from the past, which leaves the writers wiggle room to make Shin's love one-sided or just the losing end of a love triangle. The last thing the world needs is another triangle like this.
Why is eng subs taking forever with this show but other shows like endless love and the sand princess get their…
Yeah I love the Sand Princess but it seriously irks me that I have to wait until Monday to watch Friday's 3WBF when the Sand Princess gets its TWO weekend eps subbed a few hours later. Who put the B team on this show's subs
iQiyi has it with automatically-generated subs on their app, but this show requires a VIP subscription for about $7/month. You could probably watch it with the free trial
This is on the iQiyi app with english subs under free movies. It's my least favorite so far of this series, mostly because the FL is *terrible* and they didn't give her a lot to do. The flashbacks are also a little confusing. In a lot of early scenes they don't change the FL's outfit *even* during a flashback, which didn't help. So I got a little confused about what was happening when. The ML is pretty aggressive in this, so be warned if that's not your thing.
Edit: Turns out there's a remake of this on iQiyi (subbed) with different actors called "The Romance of Forbidden Girls". I rate it as better simply because the FL is way more lively and actually has lines.
Edit: Subs are finally up on iQiyi!! It's on the iqiyi app under "Devil CEO's Contract Lover". I watched it raw first, and it's still one of my favorites and perhaps the strongest story-wise and acting-wise of this series. After I watched it again with subs, this opinion definitely stands. But the "sadist" description in the synopsis does not belong AT ALL. If you like the ML (I do!) you can watch his other movies that are lighter themes but still romance - searching a couple directors for a lot of his work ("Ba Chen Xu" or "Zhu Hui Lin") will bring up a bunch of lighter, fluffy free romance movies with the ML that have auto-translated eng subs on the same app.
This is on the english iqiyi app in the free movies under "Bridegroom" with slightly inaccurate machine-translated subtitles. This is the second pairing of these two in this series besides "Imprisoned Love", and this is the far better one, with a fully formed story. Someone mentioned rape and um.. no? This is a basic 2nd chance love/jealous male lead story with a few slap&kiss scenes like you'd see in a lakorn. The couple really sells the tension/pain between them within the first 5 minutes, so I applaud them for that. However, the villains/things blocking the romance are fairly cliche. But extra points for the ML displaying personal growth.
You can find this on the english iqiyi app under "The Flowers", and find most of the ones in this series by searching…
So about an hour or so in, it goes from her arguing with the female love rival, to suddenly she's in the bathroom staring at a pregnancy test. Keep in mind, no hints of a love scene happened before this, so it's like how'd she get pregnant? By slapping him?! I kept rewinding to see if I missed something, but this movie literally cuts out every moment where they might have begun to tolerate each other's presence. It ends in a cliche accident scene where suddenly the ML is concerned, and then it jumps to them holding hands, happy ever after apparently. Um... what? So watch this for the first hour, and enjoy if you can stand never knowing. (Did they fall for each other or did he force himself on her at some point? Who knows!).
You can find this on the english iqiyi app under "The Flowers", and find most of the ones in this series by searching the director (Zhu Hui Lin). Most of this director's work are available as free movies without subscribing, with machine-translated subtitles, so they can be a little off sometimes. Only the cover is racy; there's nothing in this you wouldn't see in a standard slap and kiss lakorn. This movie was okay until about the hour mark, and then it's like someone fast-forwarded through all of the scenes and jumped to the end. It was very confusing, and I went back to see if I'd missed something, and checked around to see if some scenes were cut. Most of the previews/MV on youtube will show literally everything that happens between this couple without the side plot. I think if so much time hadn't been wasted on the side story/characters, they could have made room for the scenes viewers wanted to see - like the couple actually falling for each other. I'll detail for the curious in a spoiler below.
I love action dramas and the chemistry of the main couple (he's so into the FL and it's adorable) but I'm struggling with the writing of this one. It's apparent that this was filmed with the cooperation of the local navy, which is cool because you get some great up-close views of the naval ships, etc. However, large amounts of the dialogue read like a direct marketing/education campaign about military history, local laws, etc. It keeps pulling me out of the story and gets a little cringey. It's just not worked well enough into the plot. I'll try some of the others in this series to see if they're handled a little better. Also a reviewer mentioned that the synopsis doesn't quite line up and it's true, so that threw me into confusion right away. I hope someone updates the synopsis.
Edit: Turns out there's a remake of this on iQiyi (subbed) with different actors called "The Romance of Forbidden Girls". I rate it as better simply because the FL is way more lively and actually has lines.
