I didn't want to pick up another airing GMM TV show, but the first 2 episodes were so good! The first one was funny, but based on the trailer this might bring out some real tears later. I'm glad it's airing Sat/Sun because double episodes is so much less tortuous. At least I'll have something else to watch while waiting every weekend on subs for 3 Will Be Free.

Title 3 Will Be Free Spoiler
I'm hoping they'll have a true poly relationship in this and not just a love triangle.Anyway WHY DON'T SHIN'S…
In episode 3, did anyone notice that Tur found a portrait of Neo & Shin together that was in Neo's locker at work. Super significant! Like, not a picture at his apartment but in his locker at WORK where he'll see it every day he works. Shin must really mean something to him! I feel like he's only chasing after Miw because she's resistant and surly. Get some Shin in your life, boy!

Title My Poseidon
This is a light, low-investment watch for me. It's really an ocean conservation story disguised as a fantasy/romance, and there's a lot of dialogue spent on ocean research, so I wouldn't recommend it if you need a fast-moving plot. It's like the writers forgot they had a fantasy story to follow, and it just turned into a research workplace drama. I kept watching to see the point when she really started believing him, but the fantasy elements develop pretty slowly and felt incomplete. The romance is a slow burn. I like stories about water/magic that *aren't* about mermaids/mermen, so I'd love any other recommendations.

Title Before We Get Married Spoiler
This is definitely the strongest Taiwanese drama I've seen. Dawei with that checkbook - what a boss move! He knew what to do. The wedding at the end was so cute - all of them chatting like they're not standing at an altar, lol! If it had been WeiWei and KeHaun getting married, I think I would have been disappointed at the jump and lack of development. I loved that she took time to herself to figure things out, who she wanted to be and what she wanted. A new relationship after a 3 year one - that's so messy, and both sides would be insecure about if it was the right thing. Now they can take time and start over the right way. I also like that KeHaun dared to fully free himself from his company. I hope this is a start of a new trend of stronger tdramas, because I want to enjoy more of them as much as this. I loved that music at the climax point in each episode - it really added so much to the emotion, frustration, and intensity of the moment. I would love to buy the instrumental score of this drama.

So... what was the reason behind the abortion? I actually hoped Zi Yuan would've explained it to him in the last…
Here's what I tell myself so I'm not more annoyed by the missing explanation: that the writers left it there as a point that when a relationship is over, it's over, and no long after-the-fact explanation can save a love that one side doesn't want anymore, so it basically doesn't matter what she could have said, because he loved someone else. Hah, or that's just what I'm telling myself instead of bad writing. :p
On Amateur Lovers Never Give Up! Aug 23, 2019
The FL was annoying but I've seen worse, so it's not as big a deal - she mellows out by episode 4. But by the 8th episode, I hated everyone in this show. No one deserved anyone and the FLs had too little self-confidence to make wise decisions. Everyone was making the worst decisions possible, and the chemistry between the couples wasn't impressive enough to withstand it. The whole zombie ex-gf development with the ML was especially infuriating, the way he wasn't upfront about it right away, as well as how the two main FLs decided to "wait" for men to explain their shady dealings as opposed to getting straight answers. The second couple did not redeem this show by any measure; Chihiro's sad puppy dog behavior was nauseating - have some pride, especially when dealing with an obvious f* boi. In fact, I actually shipped Misa and Hashimoto - their chemistry was awesome and would have made a great twist. Hell, I even shipped the FL with the cute young coworker. Again, no one deserved anyone they were matched with, and by the last 3 episodes I wanted to unplug my TV and tip it out of a 2nd story window.

This was nice, and I liked that the political theme wasn't draggy and didn't slow or stall the romantic elements in any way - that happens in a lot of shows with a secondary plot. Her friendship with Kanagawa's secretary (Aoba-san) was so adorable, I loved them. I wanted to post a non-spoiler comment but this left me with too many feels. If she'd described her dating life as, "I only do open relationships and prefer to see more than one person at a time because I have trust issues" it wouldn't even have sounded that crazy. Calling it "two-timing" was pretty weird: "two-timing" assumes the other party is ignorant and getting played. She was upfront and straight with every guy she met about what she was doing, so I wouldn't call her a hypocrite. If Midori had been onboard with it (and not deluding himself that she was just kidding about dating other guys for 4 YEARS, WTF?) then this could even have been classified as polyamorous dating. But considering she had a lifelong hangup about infidelity, that twist in the middle really got me, like a punch in the gut. The signs were there, but I was still gaping like, seriously? This is happening? Literally the ONE situation she was going out of her way to avoid happened when she finally went monogamous and decided to trust someone. That's definitely not her fault in any way, just a tragedy. I love how they conveyed the chemistry between the two, with those slow-mo scenes and that eerie violin. At the end, was it Ozu sitting across from her that she was giving all her dating terms to? It looked like it, but she referenced visiting his mother or sister and I swore they said both his mother and MIL had passed away when they met with the lawyer. It left me a little confused. Even then, I want them to have a chance, even after all that crap he pulled. I wanted him to say at the lawyer meeting that he couldn't get down on his knees because he regretted nothing and would do it all over again to have her, or that every dirty trick was worth it to have her in his life - but he just sat there and I wanted her to slap him about 4 more times. Ugh! Even still, I wished them back together at the end.

This was so much fun, what's with the low rating on it?! Very sexy show on marriage and infidelity, perhaps the mirror opposite of Hirugao. And this ridiculous show does not slow down once. Some shows really go stale or weird in the last episode (jdramas can go super off the rails, I've been burned before) but this was great until the last minute and kept me guessing. Did I mention that Nomura is my absolute favorite in this? I wasn't familiar with the actor at all beforehand, but his onscreen charisma is off the charts! I would have gave up the farm for that, hah. I kept thinking, "Girl, you cannot keep him around, even as a friend. That man is a snack. One day he'll convince you that you're hungry." :p

Title 3 Will Be Free Spoiler
Mair and Phon's love story is so heartbreaking! I wish it didn't have to be him. I also can't wait to get the backstory on Neo and Shin. They're really breadcrumbing it, and both seem hesitant to admit that they know each other from before - I even went back and watched that part of episode 1 again and Shin definitely calls Neo by name the second he runs into the bathroom. I also hope they don't string us on the line too long about romance with these two. Between the three of them, Shin and Neo's chemistry is fire!
On Perfect Crime Aug 20, 2019
I loved the darker elements of this story. It's a very quick watch, but it's also quite mature, with bed scenes in at least half the episodes. I liked the narrative jump halfway through. It just shows that you never have any idea what's going through someone else's head behind their expression, and love, yours and others', isn't easy to influence. Sakurada Dori was scorching in this! Even more than in Coffee & Vanilla, which I'm also watching.
On Coffee & Vanilla Aug 19, 2019
I love this, it really takes me back. I used to read dozens of similar, slightly smutty shoujo/josei manga like this, and I applaud it for really keeping that feel. The genre is popular for a reason, hah. A lot of manga adaptations lose their feel when transferred to screen. It does need some recommendations added that better reflect this genre (Cold, smart male lead aggressively pursues a shy, awkward, inexperienced FL with some physical contact). Itazura na Kiss would be one I can think of without really digging into it, though the romance moves more slowly and is less physical.
On Witch's Romance Aug 17, 2019
This drama started off strong, but by the end I was frustrated with the main couple's actions. Still, it had one of *the best* make-out scenes in the beginning, but later on their chemistry seemed to fizzle out and get weirdly chaste.
On Madame Antoine Aug 17, 2019
This was a so-so okay watch, not terrible and entertaining enough, but I mainly remember it as having one of the best onscreen kisses I've seen in kdramas.

Title Fabulous 30
I always love a drama dealing with women over 30 and real world dating issues. There's a lot of good elements in this show: the supportive friends that were total squad goals, the fun humor. But I also agree with others that the ML was not mature enough. I'm a big fan of Mond, but they made his role a bit too childlike. It made it more difficult to believe in him as a good love choice for the heroine. I can appreciate how much he's grown since this series. However, almost no kisses - I counted 1 between the two main couples. The FL even had a better kiss with the second love interest - how frustrating. Anyway, it was still a fun, engaging watch that I finished in one day.
