I like this one more than the original because the large cast fit together a lot better and the story felt better assembled. In the original, the FL's distrust became toxic to the romance by the end and despite all of the good food scenes, I had SLS and never wanted to watch it again. I'm disappointed that more Thai food wasn't featured in this remake, and they spend a lot of time on Japanese food. Still, I laughed quite a bit, the cast felt like a big family, and it has a feel-good vibe because it ties up all of the subplots fairly well. The humor had a few raunchy moments, be warned. And Tod/Joe is a CUTIE - I hope I see him in some main lead roles. Looks like Aerin isn't listed on the cast? I'll comment on the romance in a spoiler.

I was a bit disappointed on how she lived her life after leaving. I was hoping she really used that time to explore herself and be happy. But that hope went down the drain when she explained that she'd basically devoted that entire time to finding him by working low-end jobs and spending up her savings. 4 years is a bit much. it should have been like 1 year, that would have been reasonable.

This was cute and more endearing than I expected.

[up through ep 23] I think Victoria's acting is the best so far in this episode, especially the hospital scenes. Really well done raw emotion - the expression on her face, no matter what she's done, you can't help but feel awful for her. Also, even though the ending credits showed part of that tantrum, I was NOT ready. Not for the level of destruction or how well the scene was filmed. I was really bracing myself for it, too, being a violinist - and I still want to take my violins out of their cases and hug them, hah.

Anyway, looks like 21-end are available on vip iqiyi, so I'll watch a few more until my eyeballs dry out from never blinking.

Dang, I can't believe how many of these I've seen. You sum things up so nicely for each that with a few titles I had to look twice to realize I'd already watched it! Also A+ note on S/K at the end. I think there's a venn diagram of S/K watchers with old school paperback romance novel readers and those risque ravished/barbarian themes. Full of questionable fiction, but a lucrative market for fans willing to suspend their disbelief. Still have a box of them around here somewhere...

Not really. The final scene suggests maybe they'll get another start. Also most of the side couples don't get happy endings either.

I picked this up for an extra Jason fix after 12 Legends. This was fun and the plot kept moving quickly. Before I knew it, I was at the end. A lot of cdramas really lose their way before the end and the plot slows way down, so this was a rare exception for me. The couple's chemistry won't quite knock your socks off, but they made a decent couple, as did the second couple.

Yeah I definitely would not put this in horror. It's suspenseful and has a slow pace that's probably a little creepy. A few scenes have a Fatal Attraction kinda vibe so maybe that's what people are referring to.

See, I knew those highlights were too subtle for a guy to notice. She should have got a pixie cut, lol. Also, I'm DYING to know what Qianyi has been doing this entire time. I really want them to show her story. But, I'm also really enjoying the slow looks of shock/realization on everyone's faces because of her. I think the dad may have kidnapped Xiaodong too, that's my theory.

Shoutout to Yu Hang's impromptu transformation into a hairstylist. Also, "Do I look different?" Um... no? Because no one can see those subtle highlights without a microscope? Maybe try a bolder change? Snark aside, I feel sad for both the FL and ML. The ML has such an uphill battle ahead of him. And Qi Fan is SO THIRSTY. It's exhausting. You can't cling to anyone like that, no matter the circumstances, without repulsing them. But I also think he needs a therapist to work out his instability.

I had to give up on this early on. The ML's character is an immature, unprofessional manchild. They were obviously going for a rebel guy, but it's not the good kind of rebel. It gave me anxiety waiting to see how he'd next ditch his friends when they needed him, flake and don't show for work, or throw a tantrum at his superiors. It felt like everyone around him was babysitting him. You can have a personal vendetta to pursue without being the worst teammate and friend possible. The chemistry didn't seem to be there, either. And the plot on its own isn't enough to drag me through 43 episodes.

If you can get past the first 20 minutes of terrible editing in the first episode, then it's good. This is really a bunch of story arcs surrounding the main couple's slower moving story. But the other stories are the most interesting, way more than the main couple who have an aloof, "noble" love vibe. I was *really* vested in the other couples' stories, and they're all engaging in their separate storylines. I fell for at least 3 MLs because my goodness, they were just oozing charisma. The problem is that after all the cool side stories are done, you're left with a really dragging plot and a passionless main couple. The last 4 or so episodes were *really* hard for me to push myself through. There's also a pandemic plot development in the end that is extremely similar to the current one, so make note to be sure you're emotionally ready for that.

My goodness, I love a good power reversal. I love that she came back, didn't hide for long or just throw a tantrum. She put him on EDGE the minute she walked in. It was very enjoyable to watch him react but try not to react, especially in front of everyone. And later the way he keeps squirming, just watching her like a ticking bomb, hah.

This is one of the few romances where I wished they dragged the romantic misunderstanding out longer. Once they clear everything up, all romantic tension/interesting spark drains from the romance, and it gets really slow and chaste. You're basically in it for the brother's mystery after this point - at least it's a strong pull, because the villains are pretty 1-dimensional. A review said it was meh at the end and that's a solid judgement. But those kisses in the first eps? Whew.

This drama is a ride. If you don't mind slap/kiss, there's some spectacular, passionate kisses in this. There's more real kisses in the first 5 eps than most dramas I've watched, except maybe Lying Heart. My only issue is with Savitree's acting. Her acting is usually passable/mediocre as a supporting actress and she's always had a short acting range, but for some reason she's remarkably bad at acting manic/hysterical. In some places she's shouting her lines like she's reading them from a cue card behind the camera. I think she's out of her depth for this role.
