I'm so confused right now... Has episode 4 been aired yet? It seems not yet. I saw on their official twitter that…
I've seen faulty countdowns for airing eps for a lot of jdramas recently on MDL. I think there's industry-wide airing delays, probably because of the pandemic. But I'm not sure anyone updates the airing schedule calendar after it's first added, so all the shows are getting out of sync with MDL.
Yeah I don’t care either. It’s fiction. Bring on the toxic angst.
Rewatching this again after a few years. The first episode is fire. I could watch it on repeat. All the angst in this is fire. I'm at peace with who I am, lol
I was expecting a different vibe, maybe closer to Boy for Rent, so I put this off awhile. But the first half was just hilarious, I laughed so much. It made me think about why the humor works here where it falls flat in other shows, and I think it's because they didn't force the mains to be goofy people, they just kept putting serious people in funny situations. The FL is a pretty serious person, though you can't tell from the poster. The romance is a bit on the light side. The chemistry was there, but they don't do much with it. And I thought Krating was super cute, I was low-key shipping him at the beginning, hah. So watch if you want something that can make you laugh and moves fairly fast, just to lighten your mood.
Wow, the first 2 eps are fantastic, and great soundtrack. The schedule though... Looks like evey Sunday. It says VIP gets it early? I was hoping it meant VIP gets 2 eps instead but either way...
They said they are not real sisters then why do they have the same mother?
The older sister said that the foster system would separate them and send them to separate homes (I'm thinking because taking in 2 kids is a bigger burden for most families). But the sisters are biological. I guess foster care has no obligation to keep siblings together. It's the grandma they aren't related to, that's all.
I'm caught up to 12 episodes and not yet, but there's 3 other guys and I'd be really surprised if at least 2 others don't find love. Her coworker also shows up in the credits, so I'm thinking she could end up involved.
The FL is a lot more tolerable after ep 6 when she gets serious. Before that she was a bit too goofy and not the strongest actor, especially in crying scenes. The ML is stronger. He's no Anthony Hopkins, but he's better. And easy on the eyes - he's definitely growing on me.
Very entertaining fluff, well executed, great twists. By the end Ming Dao impressed me most as Xu Guang Han, he put the work in that role. He also looked good in those flashback scenes, I would have fell for that too! Anyway did anyone else catch that Inception moment in the last few seconds of the last ep, I almost screamed.
Just finished this. Can confirm it's fully subbed but there's the usual iQiyi weird stuff happening with pronouns,…
What I respected in the story was that reincarnation didn't make anyone different than who they already were. I liked Liu Xingyu as a character, but man, he barely matured at all; all of his subjects suffered so much because he couldn't see the bigger picture until he was literally the only left to lead. The bad hair on him and Guer in the end was weird, because one of the most enjoyable parts of this was the quality of the costumes, and I wonder if it ran overbudget in the end. I wouldn't be surprised. The final battle really fizzled, which is also weird since the fight scenes were really good up til then. It felt like they were trying to film the final scenes without really showing the weapon that was so integral to the entire plot. As in, you finally get the sword, and you don't even show when it first appears? No close-ups, just a sword from far away during the final fight. Then they made it disappear and turn into something else. Now that I think about it, Ice Cry also disappeared in the last episodes and the justification wasn't that great. It felt like they were trying really hard to make do without swords, both in the creative editing and some weird story turns. I'm just going to assume that someone stole the weapon props before they filmed some key moments and they had to make do without them, lol.
Watching this. Found it randomly on the iqiyi app with an untranslated title, and was impressed by the obviously…
Just finished this. Can confirm it's fully subbed but there's the usual iQiyi weird stuff happening with pronouns, etc. I rarely find a cdrama that doesn't feel about 1-3 eps too long, and this one is no exception. This is solid up to about episode 50. Until then I really enjoyed the good fight scenes, strong friendships and lack of toxic rivalries. Then the bad decisions, indecisive handwringing, and bad wigs set in.
Of all the "sulky younger guy with magical hair" jdrama romances, this is one of my favorites. I was a bit skeptical…
This is one of the few older woman age gap romances where they don't do a time jump or distance apart while the guy "matures" enough for the woman. They worked out their issues, stayed together, and just made plans for the future after he was no longer a minor. So a lot of respect for that. The story toes a fine line, and I recall there was a jdrama with a way younger ML that really stirred up some controversy in the last few years. This stayed realistic and shows what difference having supportive people around you can make.
Of all the "sulky younger guy with magical hair" jdrama romances, this is one of my favorites. I was a bit skeptical when I saw the promo pics, but in the first episode when he's sitting at that table with his friends and starts smiling... woo boy. That light bulb clicked on. I would gladly volunteer for his little dares all day if he'd smirk at me like that. By the end of the series, he could be doing or saying anything, my eye were glued to him on the screen - incredible charisma and I can't wait to see him in other stuff. Anyway, I love a romance where they show the ML falling for the FL openly, where it's not some hidden emotion. The FL was also awesome, and this handled the age gap fairly well.
One of the reviews says it feels like 2 different movies glued together with a plot twist, and I got the same feeling. Like getting a coupon for a free nice dinner, then finding out after you've started eating that it's really a sales pitch for a timeshare. I also had to start skipping scenes to see how it ended, because it suddenly turned into another movie I wouldn't have chosen on my own.
I enjoined this, and it has rewatch value for me. I went back and watched some of my favorite scenes over afterwards. The plot is solid, the production quality/artistry is good, and the special effects were better than a lot of fantasy cdrama movies in its class. The acting of the 3 FLs impressed me. It's not Shakespeare, but they are solidly in-character, enjoyable to watch, and probably acting better than many FLs I've seen in cdramas recently. The rivalry in the romance is the type I usually avoid, but it was done well enough where everyone's stories/perspectives were touching in their own way. I'm really surprised the FLs don't have more credits to their name. They would all do really well in their own dramas and didn't seem like low-grade actresses at all.
okay am I crazy???.. it felt like it had a fantasy/supernatural tilt from the trailer, but when I read the synopsis…
Yeah, same! Just watched the trailer again now that I saw the synopsis, and iQiyi has a similar synopsis up now. I was really hoping for a fantasy instead.
This was very fluffy. I might have wandered away around the halfway point, but I really wanted a conclusion for the 2nd couple, and the comments here kept me watching. And of course, definitely the most real kisses I've seen in a cdrama, ever.
