Which SML do we think has more bats in the attic? The most outrageously deluded about his chances with the FL? Wonderland of Love SML or Rise of Ning SML?
Replying to Xinai Williams Oct 27, 2024
Why did the writers not think “hey if we make the SML want to kill her brother, how could a relationship bloom?”…
plus he's also killed and persecuted plenty of other people. basically, he should be aware enough of her character to know she would never accept him, after discovering his true morals and actions. TBH even if he wasn't trying to attack her family, once she saw his true colors: no! I think he's just justified his actions to himself so much, to excuse him destroying innocent people for his goals, that he's deluded.

Why does the 2nd couple have so much screen time??? I think dramas should really start cutting 2nd couple themes,…
90% of the time I don't care for the 2nd couple in dramas but then you just fast forward their scenes. It becomes an artform LOL.

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
The relationships shown are kinda confusing cuz aren't they all related?? 😭😭
FL isn't related to the family. and the "uncle" character is a step-uncle they just met now for the first time in the episodes. he's the brother of the main wife the dad married after FL' mom died. She's a step mom and they never met her brother before. technically their step uncle but he was basically a stranger to them.

Couldn't the actor have grown his own hair two inches and dyed it for the role instead of using these horribly…
omg finally someone says it. I cannot even watch his scenes, poor guy he doesn't deserve what was done to his hair.

I'm loving this so much! someone below says Alan Feng doesn't get much screen time? is that true because he is…
TBH it depends what you consider as "not much screentime". Drama basically has 2 main couples and a main character villain. From that perspective, Alan Fang gets the appropriate amount of screentime. He's not the protagonist and in every scene. He's in about every episode, I believe. Lately I feel like in a lot of dramas I see frustration from fans who feel like the "ML" isn't getting enough screentime. My honest opinion is usually it's just they want him to be the protagonist and others are supporting characters. But if that's not the drama's structure, then it's not a mistake or a problem. It's a feature, not a bug ;) What you see in the first few episodes is what you get later. Alan Fang gets some fun material that suits him. I think he was a great pick for the role. It made me a fan of him.

the second cp kinda irritating lol dropped
Skill issue LOL I just fast forward every scene of a 2nd or 3rd couple in my drama if they're annoying

I swear to god, just binged the first 9 episodes and this drama is GREAT like that. It's whole problem is spreading tiny pieces out week by week.

yes and no, they keep some ideas but they changed the plot.
Unfortunately that is simply a common web novel trope. Because it's so common, it actually isn't supposed to MEAN anything or signify the dynamic of their relationship or any characterization note. 80% of webnovels do that silly thing where the person's back hurts and they can't walk the next day kinda silliness. I simply ignore it now in novels and move on.

Alen Fang?
Regardless of who she marries in the end, the Alen Fang character has more screentime and he is the one with a love subplot with the FL's character. He's definitely the male lead character. If FL marries someone else in the end it will be for politics not romance.

I must say the Yunpei "Kingdom" have the worst guards, it is so easy for 2 Men to just run rampant in the palace…
I actually love this because from the start the Yunpei Lord felt to me like he's smart but his downfall is his ego. He's cosplaying being an emperor but he's NOT one. He really, really wants to be one and he surrounds himself with flatterers who tell him how amazing he is and destined to take over all the desert... But he HASN'T done that yet. The man is taking a victory lap before winning the race. His overconfidence will be his downfall.

oh thanks! did the 2nd couple get a happy ending together too?

Wait. Oh no. Why'd you tell us that? Now, I'm rooting against skinship and kiss scenes. I know they're professional…
imo rl friends who are actors actually tend to give good skinship and kissing scenes. We see that all the time in BL dramas. Friends get silly and competitive, and they're already very comfortable with each other. Drama kids are just like that.

Thanks for replying :) I can see a lot of comments saying they are great but I haven't seen details about their plotline and how they fit into the story. I was considering if I should watch this drama, so just curious. Usually I can pick up this info from MDL comments very quickly but this time I haven't been able to.

everyone here is saying they love the 2nd couple. what is their dynamic/tropes? From the trailer and MDL summary I can tell the setup for the main couple, but what is the second couple's deal?

Title Fateful Love
I read comments of this being the best historical drama of 2024, but is there historical truth in the drama -…
It's a fantasy world. Not a lot of world building of that world, it's not a serious drama. But very entertaining!!!

In as many cdramas that I have watched, the Yan family is the most peaceful family I have ever seen. Husband,…
I liked that they kept this from the novel, it was an unusual set up that makes the story a little unique. Her family, including the kids, really all do like each other. They can argue like families would but at the end of the day, they stand up for each other. I think it influences FL behavior - it makes her less scared of divorce and more feel of independence (she knows she's not alone, even as a concubine's daughter... Even a concubine that came from a brothal!)

I agree that FL doesn't seem to be deeply in love with ML yet, and it totally makes sense. ML is clearly drawn to her and attracted but it makes sense in the story that he will fall faster because she has an extra impediment (being from another world).

This is a fake, imaginary person who cannot actually perish or feel pain. It's important to keep a clear distinction between fantasy and reality.
